NIT Jalandhar in brief

Although the course is old, the institute regularly hires new associate professors to improve the teaching methodology according to the present requirements we at our college have an industrial visit option which is new and particularly I like this option. The faculties of our institute are renowned in the textile field they are good except for some which are too serious which are at times beneficial for us.

Every year many companies provide internships to deserving students in their active field of interest while the institute also supports internship opportunities by focusing the projects and assignments referencing the internship topic or field.

Students are eligible for placement starting from the 7th semester although some are offered earlier based on their internship approval and the work they are pre-placed. There are plenty of companies more than 200 visiting the institute like Amazon, and Paytm. The highest package offered in the previous year was 1.23 cr and was offered by Microsoft. Every year around 90 percent of students interested in placements are placed in top companies like Amazon Microsoft and google.

Fees structure is similar to other government colleges for a general candidate the fee is around 88k for a year excluding the hostel and we get scholarships also based on the merit of the marks scored. Students here can also do campus jobs by doing an internship in companies.

The annual fest that is held is Utkansh while the tech fest held is techniti .various institutes of the countries take part in both of the events. There are multiple clubs in the institute where extracurricular activities and sports are being conducted. One of the clubs I found interesting is prayas run by students of our institute which teaches underprivileged kids. Glad to inform you that one of my batchmates was a prayas student so contributing to bringing a change. Classrooms are very good with centralized cooling and cushion chairs. There are smart boards and projectors which can be used as per need.

College has two types of hostels mega boys hostels and hostels. Mega boys hostels or mbh are very large hostels with the strength of 650 students on 6 to 7 floors. Every room has 2 students and a set of given basic amenities are provided in the room like a chair table,2 beds, a fan and a balcony along with 2 cupboard and a mirror. The registration process is a simple one just needs to show the fee receipt and can avail his preferred room. Rooms are served on a first-come first served basis. Meals are average not so very good but kind of good. Meals in hostels are good than in mega hostels.

I have been given JEE Mains exam for which one needs to be class 12th passed and due to Covid period my class 12th was 72 percent but the criteria that year were reduced from 75 percent, therefore, I got the opportunity to fill the NIT preference in josaa counseling.
