MCA at VIT Pune

This is a post-graduation course so you must have a UG degree to enroll for MCA. The undergraduate degree can be BCA or BSC. I gave MCA CET entrance exam for getting admission to this college. It is an entrance exam for Maharashtra state colleges providing MCA degrees. There are various caste and category benefits provided by the government of Maharashtra. Also, TFWS seats are there which are given scholarships based on the top-scoring candidates in the entrance exam.

The course is of 2 years and has 4 semesters. I choose this course because I wanted to go for higher education and wanted to complete my post-graduation. There were 70 students in my course and 5-6 faculty members for various subjects. The faculty was highly qualified and skilled in their respective fields and subjects. The teaching methods used by them were good and practical rather than bookish and theoretical. The exams were conducted on time and passing them was not that hard. Also, the students were evaluated on various parameters. Seminars and group discussions were also conducted.

Almost 90% of the companies which came for placement offered internships to students to make them industry ready. The average stipend offered was 15000 and roles were mostly of development and testing in software industry. The companies which came were Colgate, cognizant, Vuclip and many other product as well as service based companies.

The placements of our college are one of the best in Maharashtra. Students are eligible for campus placements in their final year of education. They are provided with internship opportunities and also full-time placements are offered. For my course, more than 30 companies visited our campus and the highest package offered was 8lpa and the lowest was 3.5lpa while the average package was 5 LPA. Almost 80-90% of the students got placed from my batch in top companies.

The fees for my course were 1 lakh 40 thousand per year but it varied according to caste and category. Various scholarships were provided and concession in fees was given by the government to the students. TFWS Scholarship was also provided. I got this scholarship and my fees were reduced to 25000/yr. The college provided excellent placements and internship opportunities. Almost 90% of the students got placed in top companies and MNCs.

Life on campus is great and various clubs are present. Clubs include tech, sports, music, art and drama, movie club, and entrepreneurship development cell. The annual fest is conducted in the month of December. The library is well equipped with books and resources and also easily accessible. The classrooms are not that good as the college infrastructure is somewhat old. Many sports are available to play in our college. Teams are formed and trials are conducted for the selection of players.
