Course Curriculum Overview
I have a strong interest in Computer Science and Engineering. That was my sole reason to pursue B.Tech in CSE. At USICT, things have improved drastically. In the past few years, there is a boost in college culture in terms of entrepreneurship, research, coding, etc. Some of the faculties here are supportive and help you grow and learn. The faculty-to-student ratio is around 30:1. The faculties here are well-qualified. Mostly, having a PhD, some of them even being a post-doctorate researcher. Sometimes, a few faculties might seem to be strict, but in turn, they are helping the students for their best. Each semester, we have a Minor Examination (worth 20 marks), Major End-term Exam (worth 75 marks), and regular assessments (5 marks) for theory subjects. For practical subjects, we have Internal Assessments (40 marks) and External Lab Examination (60 marks). The exams vary from easy to hard, depending upon the course subject and your preparation.
Internships Opportunities
USICT with its industrial collaborations provides many internship opportunities to its students. Tech giants like Amazon, Adobe, Trilogy Innovations (CodeNation), Urban Ladder, etc. provide internship opportunities to students with stipends varying from 20k per month to 1.5 Lakhs per month. These help students to have industry experience in real-time. Apart from this, USICT has its in-house internship program as well. "Utkrisht" organised by GGSIPU USS ACM Student Chapter, helps students do research internships under the aegis of Professors and build projects and do research work during their summer break.
Placement Experience
Students are eligible for placements from their pre-final year of degree (i.e. 3rd year for B.Tech) and internships from the year before that (i.e. 2nd year of B.Tech). Placements have reached new heights. For the ongoing year 2022, over 90% of students are already placed with the highest package being 45 Lakhs Per Annum offered by Adobe, followed by tech giants like Amazon, Oracle, Tata 1mg, Rapido, Nagarro, hike, etc. The average package for B.Tech CSE and IT has crossed the 15 LPA mark. Overall average package, so far, has been 13.5 LPA. Profiles of companies vary from Software developers, ML engineers, Consultants, Product Engineers, etc. Students of the college are showcasing their talent in the industry by grabbing job opportunities from DE Shaw, Google, BrowserStack, Bharat Pe, CarDekho, etc. USICT boasts of having given, two AIR 1 students in GATE-CSE (Abhinav Garg, 2022 & Hitesh Poply, 2020). Many students crack exams like CAT for MBA, UPSC, etc.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
USICT is one of the cheapest colleges in Delhi-NCR to pursue a B.Tech. The fees here are very nominal and affordable. Apart from this, there are multiple merit-cum-means based scholarships run by Govt of Delhi, Govt of India and other organizations. A special scheme for Economically weaker students can give up to 100% reimbursements of college fees. Placements: The placements are the best part of the college. Each year the placements are attaining new heights. With over 90% of students getting on-campus jobs, for the year 2022, the average package crossed 13.5 Lakhs per Annum. The Highest Package is 45 LPA on-campus (by Adobe) followed by tech giants like Amazon, Oracle, Tata 1mg, Rapido, Hike, Yamaha, Josh Technology, Thorogood, Nagarro, etc. visiting the campus each year. For B.Tech IT, the average package was over 15 LPA. In terms of the students-to-offer ratio and fees-to-placements ratio, USICT is probably giving the best RoI in Delhi.
Campus Life
USICT is present in the GGSIPU Main Campus, which is the most happening place, throughout the year. Each day, there are multiple events going on ranging from technical to non-technical, fun to learning, etc. Each Year, in February, "Anugoonj" is organised, which is the cultural fest. Many popular stars, like KK, Kailash Kher, Jubin Nautiyal, etc. have performed at the fest. It has a footfall of over a lakh students. Hostel Facilities
The Hostels at the campus are very affordable and one of the best hostels in Delhi. There are 4 hostels, 2 for each boy and girl. The accommodations are single (non-sharing) rooms, each having one big size table, a single bed, a chair, A almirah (embedded in the wall) and a balcony. All the rooms have proper cross ventilation and are spacious enough. The mess food is good. A variety of dishes are made both for vegetarians and non-vegetarians. Food is served 4 times, a day, the quality of which, is really good. The Hostels are clean and well maintained by the sanitary workers. They are CCTV equipped and security guards are present round the clock. The admission process for hostels begins after you are admitted to the college. Outside Delhi, students are given a preference for hostels.
