Remarks

Our college is just like any of the other college , but since we are studying a career oriented course so the vastness is narrowed and you are left with few limited choices , and since marine branch is on its verge of tipping , i would recommend to do mechanical engineering instead of marine engineering , even after that if u want to join marine engineering u can join.

Entrance Preview

I took CUSAT CAT 2016 and I scored 320 marks out of 720 , which is quite above avg considering the time limit as of my rank was AIR 1154. In the initial stages when i was preparing for jee , I saw the brochure of CUSAtT for UG intake , since i was a native of kerala , I did a little research and sound that it is ranked among top university's in India , and more over this was the only descent option i was left with after jee16.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

The course curriculum for the first year is a complete mess and not well structured ,but from next year onwards you'll enter into the core and study in detail about your particular course . You'll learn a lot in these four years , the practical work is too much when compared to the other branches in engineering , the curriculum is vast and sometimes tough also .

Internships Opportunities

Yes , they do provide internship to the interested candidates and have an active placement cell , but from the past few years the marine transport business is on a decline and is on verge of struggle , so in this scenario you must maintain a sufficient GPA to attend the interview . The companies visited were L&T , MSC, K-LINE,MSL,ISC,ANGLOEASTERN SHIPPING COMPANIY ETC.

Placement Experience

3.5

As mentioned earlier the marine transportation is on its worst time and as of there are lots of marine engg colleges in india which offers the same ,so in this scenario offering food placement statistics is a challenging part which quite impossible right now , the opportunity window of a marine engineer is getting narrower day by day. You join the vessel as a junior engineer so u start with the least possible salary which varies from vessel to vessel so it ranges from 15k to 60k . And Right after an year it can vary from 90k to 250k.

College Events

3

We almost celebrate every festival here at CUSAT since fraternity leads to brotherhood every fest is given equal importance here there is sports fest "kurukshetra " cultural fest "sargam" and technical fest "Propulzo". These events occur annually and with full enthusiasm , they are state wide renowned fests and the participation level is amass .

Fee Structure And Facilities

Since what we are doing here is something which is strictly career oriented since marine engineering offers you high pay packages , thus the fee structure is quite expensive, it is categorised into two 1. State merit and 2. All india merit . The fee. Of state merit is around 7.25 lac for 4 yr and for all india merit it is around 10.50 lac , excluding the mess fee of about 3000 p.m . The college is quite expensive even after being a govt. Institution.

Fees and Financial Aid

For SC/SC students there is govt. Scholarships offered by the institution which they can avail and there is extra scholarship to girl child and economically backward students. Loan is available from the SBI cusat branch with feasible interest rates.

Campus Life

3.5

The campus life is a shear example of the famous quote "unity is in diversity " as u can find people from almost every state religion , culture etc. We celebrate almost every festival here with equal importance , the sex ratio is less as for every biased 37:100 . But still its good , as it is a govt institution there is no management seats so you stay away from the rich and spoilt brats , the politics have a very heavy influence on the institutions as most of the changes occur because of the political pressure only.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Our college is a career oriented course and living in college hostel is a must for everyone . And they must stay there the hostel rooms are more like a dorm and is shared by 3 cadets . There is each floor dedicated to particular year students , the mess food is quite avg. And personally I don't like it , but it is well structured. There are 3 wardens if u have any problem u can contact them .

Alumni/Alumna

In the initial stages i was worried about our relation with our seniors and believe me , it was something to be worried about , but later on things turned out to be nice and they turned out to be good friends , you'll start enjoying there company , and there experience is something that makes us to proceed further , believing i also have to do it.

Exam Structure

There are three types of exams that goes on through out a year , first is the unit test (mid term ) then there comes the model right after 2 months from mid terms and 1 month after model there comes the university exams , you must qualify all of them and score food internals to sustain this field .the labs are weekly and practical exams occur annually , the exams can be hectic or chilled out depends on the sunject.

Admission

Right after the publication of results they uploaded their counselling schedule and ad per my rank , the very first counselling was mine .The counselling procedure was really simple except the medical report that we have to submit for the marine branch , and the only big problem that some of u may face is the huge one time fee that we have to deposite at the time of counselling .

Faculty

3.5

There's no doubt that the faculties are highly qualified, since it is a govt institution , there's a minimum qualification level , as being a govt college the faculties are not quite hard working the scenario is quite similar to what we see at some typical govt . School you are on your own , right from the start. The faculty must have a PG degree to apply.

Campus placements are highly volatile taking the stats from over the past three years there has been an up trend as well a down trend, I hope I will get placed through on campus interviews, the highest package of this year was for two graduates who got into IBM with 22 lakhs per aanum, there are few who didn't get into any of the companies while there were others who got int Amazon and other reputated companies, if I do not get into a reputed company through my college on campus placements the. I'll be aiming for higher educations most probably
