Life at Jorhat Institute of Science and Technology

The admission process is based on the Combined Entrance Examination (CEE) which is held every year. Candidates need to score under 2000 rank to get a seat. The details can be found on the ASTU and DTE Assam websites. The overall admission process is simple and easy.

I chose this course as I was always fascinated by Mechanical Engineers. The teachers are well qualified and are either appointed by ACS examination or else by PI of NET/SLET or Ph.D. candidates. The examinations are held timely with 3 Internal Evaluation and 1 End semester examination in each semester.

Students need to apply at various companies with permission from the Training and Placement Officer for trainings which is required for the partial fulfillment of the BTech degree. Also college arranges Academic Internships in various IITs and NITs.

Students become eligible for placements from the 7th semester. Companies like Luit Minerals, CRTD, Byjus and others visit every year. Also pool placement is held for various companies like IGGL, OIL, IOCL, etc.

The fees are minimum averaging about 6000/- per semester. Students can also apply for Ishan Uday and other scholarships. There is no fees hike throughout the duration of the course. Complete details is provided during the time of admission.

ABHIANTRIX - The techno fest of Jorhat Institute of Science and Technology is held every year. Also, the Freshers program is held for newcomers. College week is held every year in the month of February for Cultural and Sports competitions. JIST also has a central library along with some clubs.
