Remarks
Very smooth admission process. The admin staff replies to your emails very proactively unlike many other universities. Back in the day, the eligibility criteria for my department (Biotechnology and Bioinformatics) were marks scored on the 12th board. Generous advertisements are done by the university about admissions in reputed newspapers, however, the university's website can be your one-stop shop for all the admission-related information you might need.
Course Curriculum Overview
I have nothing but the best to say about my department, Biotechnology, and Bioinformatics. Each and every professor has a postdoc, mostly from very reputed international universities. The course curriculum, especially for Bioinformatics is in line with most of the international universities- rather I should say better than them even. From my personal experience, I found the subjects and concepts taught in my Btech degree act as the foundation for my master's degree, which granted me an upper edge. The professors are very committed to their job, pursue excellent research, and are very helpful (even after you have graduated). I am forever indebted to JUIT, my department and my professors.
Internships Opportunities
Not the best person to comment on this as I didn't sit for placements. But my friends were happy with their projects mostly except the ones working for mass recruiters. A lot of the interns got retained as full-time employees later on.
Placement Experience
Placements are good in terms of numbers but satisfactory in terms of the emoluments. Some companies offer very generous packages but mostly for CSE/IT/ECE students (for technical roles). Other students with higher than average packages get places in non-technical roles. A downside is Bioinformatics students, even on studying more programming and data science concepts than the other streams are ineligible for many of the high paying tech companies.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee is usually on the rise every year, unfortunately. On average, it costs 12 lakhs-15lakhs. There might be scholarships for EWS students but I am not entirely sure. Unfortunately, no scholarships for high merit students.
Campus Life
A good number of social events. JYC Jaypee Youth Club is the university's students committee and has many clubs e.g. Disciplinary, literary, movie, sports, cultural, etc. loads of activities throughout the year but the scale is small. Lot of scope of research at an undergraduate level but the onus lies on the individual to contact the professors.
Hostel Facilities
Excellent mess and hostel-very neat and clean. Mess serves very healthy food but also provides cheat meals like chhole bhatoore, samosa, noodles, etc. Fruits, yoghurt given too. Excellent food- much better than other universities. Hostels are in very good shape. You have housekeeping staff coming every day. The only downside is the warden is irrational sometimes when it came to room allotment but the introduction of CGPA-based room allotment has mitigated this problem.
