Course Curriculum Overview
For me, NIT Hamirpur’s curriculum feels spot-on and well put together. The subjects are meaningful and useful, and they strike a good mix between theory and real-world skills—especially in newer courses where practical sessions and industry-style training are included. Exams are fair: there are two main tests each semester plus internal evaluations, and with regular study—even just a week of focused prep—they're approachable. Teachers are quite knowledgeable and supportive, and the beautiful green campus adds a calm and inspiring vibe, making the whole learning experience feel both solid and enjoyable
Internships Opportunities
There are great intership opportunities. Most of the 4rth year are doing internship here and earning good in 4rth year. Teachers are very helpful and tell about internship and help for that. Thus internship opportunities are very good.
Placement Experience
At NIT Hamirpur, students become eligible for campus placements from the 7th semester onwards, and the placement scenario has been quite encouraging in recent years. A wide range of companies such as Infosys, Wipro, L\&T, Capgemini, Tata Projects, and several core as well as IT firms visit the campus every year. The highest placement touched an impressive 2.05 crore offered to a mechanical engineering student, while the overall average package stands at around 10.5 LPA, which is a strong figure compared to many other NITs. The placement percentage remains high, with a majority of students securing offers, especially in branches like CSE, IT, and ECE, though core branches like civil and mechanical also receive good opportunities. The profiles offered include roles in software development, consulting, design, project engineering, and research. After completing my degree, I plan to take advantage of these placement opportunities to gain solid industry experience and later decide whether to pursue higher studies or competitive exams for broader career growth.
Fees and Financial Aid
NIT Hamirpur has a fairly reasonable fee structure compared to private colleges, and the best part is that it remains stable without sudden hikes. For me (general category)as student the yearly cost is about ?2,06,200 including tuition, hostel, and mess, while in the first year it comes to about ?2,13,200 because of admission and caution charges. For SC, ST, PwD, and students from families with income below ?1,00,000 there is a full tuition fee waiver, so the total expense is around ?60,000 per year which covers hostel and other compulsory charges. For families with income between ?1,00,000 and ?5,00,000 two-thirds of the tuition fee is waived, so the yearly expense is about ?1,00,200. The institute also provides many scholarship opportunities such as merit-cum-means, Top Class Education for SC and ST, Kalpana Chawla scheme, Samsung Star Scholar, and various central and state government scholarships. These options ease the financial burden for deserving students, and many of my batchmates have benefited from them. Overall, the fee and scholarship system at NIT Hamirpur feels student-friendly and ensures that financial constraints do not become a barrier to pursuing education here.
Campus Life
The overall experience is very good. There are many societies and clubs with many exciting projects the make and shiw in the orientation. There are many orientations of clubs and there they also play games and quizzes. There are smartboards and projectors in classes. There is Also NCC club and sports club.
Hostel Facilities
There is hostel facility. With having 3seater and 4 seater rooms,There will be only 3 seaters for first year are new building is under construction and almost done. For 2nd and 3rd there are 3,2 seater and for final year there are single seater. Mess food quality is goid and gradually increases year to year.
Admission
When I was applying for engineering, I had filled applications for a few other NITs and state engineering colleges, but finally I chose NIT Hamirpur because of its good academic reputation, supportive campus environment, and better placement opportunities compared to the others. Some colleges I applied to had very high cutoffs and I couldn’t make it there because my JEE Main score was slightly lower than required, but NIT Hamirpur’s cutoff matched my rank, so I got admission here. The admission process was through JEE Main followed by JoSAA counseling, which is the most common and preferred route for B.Tech aspirants. The eligibility was 12th pass with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, and the cutoff for civil engineering here was comparatively achievable for me. The overall admission process was transparent and smooth, from registering for counseling to final seat allotment. I felt this college was the right choice because it offered a balance of good academics, infrastructure, and campus life, which was better than the options I had in hand.
Faculty
All the teacher are well qualified. Some of the had done the phd from IIT Roorke. And also have years of experience in teaching. Marking scheme is like 20 marks for Internal 30 marks for mid semester 50 marks for end semester Total 100 marks for a semester.
Night Life
