Remarks
Before SSCBS, I applied in 2 colleges, that is, PGDAV & Shaheed Bhagat Singh. However, after the result of DU JAT was out, I shifted to SSCBS. The reasons to switch to SSCBS was the uniqueness of the course (BMS) and the college itself (SSCBS). SSCBS is considered the No.1 college for management courses in India. I availed the admission under EWS quota. For admission in SSCBS, you have to clear the DU JAT exam which is conducted every year by NTA. Also, you should have Mathematics as subject till your 12th standard and you should have minimum of 60% in 12th standard. The final merit list is a combination of DU JAT exam(65%) & your 12th class best of 4(35%). Generally the admission process take place in offline mode. However, due to Covid it was completely online and in my opinion it was quite smooth. The college admin department was helpful enough to help us out.
Course Curriculum Overview
The uniqueness of this course inclined me towards opting BMS over the traditional courses like B.Com, BA(H) Economics, etc. The curriculum of this course goes hand-in-hand with the industry requirements. Faculty: Student Ratio is around 1:55. The qualification of the majority of faculty is PhD from recognised universities. Almost every faculty holds a Master's degree in different disciplines from recognised universities like University of Delhi, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), etc. Talking about the teaching method, we have dedicated doubt classes or what we called as Tutorial Classes. The approach of the faculty remains practical in approach which is supported by discussion on real-life case studies, weekly assignments & tests, research reports & PPT's. Exams in University of Delhi for 1st Year is yet to take place. However, talking about the frequency there is a semester system and we have 2 semesters of 6 months each in a year.
Internships Opportunities
There are summer as well as winter Internships. Few of the renowned recruiters are McKinsey, Google, FTI Consulting, CBRE, DE Shaw, L&T, EY, Deloitte, KPMG, Reckitt, TCS, Bajaj Capital, Urban company, ITC, Yes Bank, Harley Davidson, Niti Aayog, etc. Profiles offered are Investment Banking Analyst, Consulting, etc. Stipend ranges from 5k-50k per month.
Placement Experience
The average CTC for the year 2020-21 was 8.30 LPA. A few of the prominent recruiters are McKinsey, BCG, Bain, Accenture, DE Shaw, Goldman Sachs, Everest Group, CBRE, FTI Consulting, Zomato, Wipro, EY, Deloitte, PWC, KPMG, etc. Profiles offered are Consulting, Finance, Operations, Marketing & Sales, Research, Tech, etc. Students from 5th semester can take part in the campus placement. No. of offers for 2020-21 were 200+. The highest package for 2020-21 was offered by DE Shaw (19.25 LPA) for their Financial Analyst profile. 100% students were placed. My plan: I'll sit for the placements.
Fees and Financial Aid
The total course fees for BMS is around 35,000. However, there are no scholarship at the time of admission but you can get some which are given on meritorious basis at the end of year, that is, depending upon your GPA, extra curricular activities, internship, etc.
Campus Life
The name of the annual fest is Crescendo & it generally took place in the month of February -March. The library is well-equipped with over 22,000 books and students can easily access the same. Also, we have an online portal as well to locate a particular book in the library. There is a digital projector in the classroom with centralised A/C. There are charging facilities as well in the classroom. There is sports room which is well-quipped with all necessary sports equipments. Also, there is playing ground as well inside the campus itself. There are around 40-50 societies in the college.
