Entrance Preview

It was after 12th standard examination. This was the No 1 option college taken by students - for the facilities of the college. I had got 91 % in Physics, Chemistry & Maths and this was best what could be taken. The college has big library, big departments, boat club and other cultural activities to make it attractive.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

This was the only college in Pune district offering Metallurgy course. It covered most of the aspects of metallurgy. First year was mostly common for all students. From second year onwards, students came together and the courses were more of metallurgy. The subjects were covering varied topics.

Internships Opportunities

There was Sandwitch course, wherein two semesters out of total eight semesters of college had to be spend in industry. The general stipend was Rs. 1500/- or so per month.

Placement Experience

4.5

Since this was the best college in Pune University where top students were there, this was where companies came first. At that time, first companies were Infosys & Wipro where whole college could attend. The packages were around 1.8 to 2 lacs per annum.

College Events

5

There was Metsa week of our department. Then there was college level competions. There was festival on the boat club. Traditional day was celebrated in college. The biggest event of them all was College Gathering which lasted for 3 days and different types of events/sports being organized.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Since this was Government college, the fee structure was very feasible. At that time, tution fees were 4-5000 per year. Those who got hostels on merit had to pay Rs. 600 per month. The mess was usual around 800 pm. Library had programs to give books on loan for one semester and if you got one which can be used for subject, you did not have to buy another book. For economically backward and reserved categories, the tution fees were refunded and they also got some Rs. 4000/- for full year as maintain hostel standards.

Fees and Financial Aid

For economically backward students, there was scholarship and their fees were paid or got refunded. There were some groups in Pune which offered students to earn and learn at the same time.

Campus Life

4

This college is fantastic experience as far as campus life is concerned. There is college magazine where you can contribute. There is one program on boat club where only freshers can participate, it is welcome to fresher in college culture. Hostel is not so far and there are different hostel & class friend circle. Lots of scope for extracurricular activities. The labs of this college are one of the best available in Pune university.

Alumni/Alumna

Some of our junior, senior are already teaching in same department. There is communication between old alumnus and college for gettogether. While in college, it is the senior students who guide the juniors about how to go about with courses and professors.

Exam Structure

The exams were once in one semester and it had written, oral and practicals as part of it. There was one full month called PL - Preparatory Leave where we can study for the whole semesters. Local students came to hostels for studying.

Faculty

4

Faculty as usual is great. Our Head of the Department took only one subject, but was such a teacher that people used to wake up from sleep and attend his lecture. This was due to his teaching style where he would explain concept in funny ways. He was favorite of one and all. Some of the faculties also wanted students to prepare some topics and present them before class - a wonderful concept.

Placement Experience:

Placements at ADYPU are moderate and structred . Students usually become eligilble from the final year for campus drives. Various startups and mid level comapnies visit for roles in sales, marketing, operatioons and tech support . The highest pacakage generally ranges arounf 45-50LPA , while the average package is around 4.5-6 LPA , depending on the profile . A fair percentage of active students secure placements. After completing my degree, i plan to focus on skill development and pursue better career op;portunities.
