NIT Sikkim Review

NIT Sikkim is approved by AICTE and UGC. NIT Sikkim is popularly known for its international exchange program where we get an opportunity to complete our studies from international partner universities like the University of Bremen, Germany and Technical University Dresden, etc. The college provides a very good environment for studies. I was able to clear the cutoff eligibility criteria of the college so I did not want to miss the opportunity and during my JOSAA counselling, I was successful in getting the seat at NIT Sikkim. CSE is the flagship course of the college and the college is very famous for it also as I was interested in CSE so I immediately froze my seat as soon as I was granted the seat in NIT Sikkim.

The curriculum of the college is no doubt is of international level we are given very good research opportunity. In fact, the college is the house PARAM Kanchenjunga supercomputer the fastest computer available in any NITs of India. The curriculum helps us to understand programming and computer algorithms with the help of the super computer. The curriculum provides us insight into programming languages and computer coding in detail. The faculty of the college is also very good and they are experts in their respective subjects. The faculty are not only of PhD standards but they have completed their research work from one of the best universities of India and abroad. The faculty teaching methods are simple and easy to understand.

The college provides good internship opportunities. We are eligible for the internship after completing the three years of our program and we have to register all our details like name domain and area of interest to the placement committee so that we can get a good opportunity for an internship. The average stipend for the internship is approx 45k.

The college has a good placement program and all thanks to the college placement committee. The college placement committee is fully responsible for organising and managing the placement rounds and process. The placement committee is the one that helps us to attain good packages as per our interests. The highest package for our batch was around 17 LPA and the average package was around 10 LPA.

The college provides scholarships on a merit basis and there are also scholarship schemes for SC/ST/PWD. The college has more than 7+ scholarship schemes. Education loan facility is also available and the admission department is very cooperative during the education process. The college infrastructure is well maintained. The college seniors and the college staff is very cooperative. Adam is the cultural fest of the college, abhiyantran is the technical fest of the college. The college library is small but we can find all kinds of useful books related to our department. The college classrooms are also very well maintained and properly ventilated.

The hostel is properly maintained and the hostel rooms are available on a triple and double sharing basis. The rooms are properly ventilated and the rooms have basic facilities like beds, almirahs and a study table for every one of us. The mess food quality is good. The hostel staff is very hardworking. The hostel decorum is properly maintained. The hostel has 24 hours of water and power supply. At the price point of 15k, the time spent and the facilities at the hostel are worth it.
