It is one of the best NIT in India with best facilities.

Basically, everyone knows if you want to join NIT college, you have to crack jee mains. Nowadays NTA conducts jee mains and after that result is declared. So according to your rank, you will get college through JOSAA counselling. You will of course get more opportunities if you belong to OBC, ST and SC categories.

I chooses Ceramic Engineering because according to my rank which was 51650. As my rank is not good so I have two choices left one to take higher branches in three tier colleges or to take a lower branch in Good colleges. I choose the second option. In the ceramic branch, there are 60 students in my batch. Most of the faculty are PhD so the quality of teaching is very high. The behaviour of professor vary very much some give good marks but some teachers will not. We are having 4 exams in a year 2 endsem and 2 midsem. In each semester we are having one endsem and one midsem. It is not difficult to pass if you study well.

Few students get the opportunity to sit in internships in the IT sector internships. If you good cgpa you can apply for the internship in research areas in other colleges like IIT bhu, IIT Roorke,IIT bbsr, etc. Few senior girls grab internships in Tata steel also. Few Core companies generally visit campus for internships.

Most of the companies visit when folks are in 3rd year. In ceramic engineering, many people got selected analytics jobs very few were selected for core companies. Core companies like TATA Steel and Jindal Steel visit every year. 80% of students got placement. The highest package is 14 lakh and the average package is 7 lakh. You can't compare your placement packages with CSE guys. My plan is to grab good placements.

The total fees of Ist semester which I paid are Rs 1,24,000 then Rs 99,000 for next semester each. Fee assistance depend on your family income. If income is less than 1 lakh then you don,t have to pay tuition fees. If income is between 1 to 5 lakhs you have to pay 1/3 of tuition fees and rest oters also. Fests like ISM and cosmo are held every year in Nit Rourkela. Also, the Vriddhi sports fest is held every year. It has a very big Biju Patnaik central library but it lacks the necessary books. It has Dilip Trickey stadium, two tennis courts and a basketball court. Classrooms and labs are well equipped with necessities. Sports and Gym Facilities are also available in Institute. Nit Rourkela has a good number of clubs. SAC control their activity.

Nit Rourkela has 11 halls of residence. Two for girls and 9 for boys. You will get your private room after the 2nd year. Quality and type of food depend on which hostel you live in. You can expect south and north food both. You also get 6 days a week non-veg so enjoy your life in college. The registration process of hostels is very easy.
