FLAME School of Business got ranked as the 26th best business school in India by the Business India B-School Survey 2015. It is located in the city of Pune which is known as the 'Oxford of the East'. I applied here after learning about the University's interdisciplinary approach towards studies and the curricular innovations they have made. Also, FLAME offers an amazing campus life, best quality faculty for management studies, career assistance opportunities and industry interface. FLAME has an online application process occurring in five distinct cycles extending from December till May. The application fees for undergraduate courses is Rs. 2000. Candidates who have passed 12th from a recognized board with a minimum aggregate of 45% marks are eligible to apply for BBA. Students can choose to appear for the University admission test, FEAT or submit their SAT/ACT scores which are also acceptable for admission. Note that there is no minimum cut-off for candidates applying through SAT/ACT, but obviously the higher your test scores, the better are your chances of getting selected.

The University has an up-to-date, liberal curriculum relevant to the industry's needs. FLAME offers interesting major- minor subject combinations for the overall development of students. For my majors, I had Business Analytics, Marketing, Finance, Human Resource Management, Entrepreneurship, Operations, General Management, Design Management. As for minors, you can select subjects in areas such as humanities, social sciences, foreign languages, and creative arts. Ratio of faculty members-students is 1:9. The faculty members are capable and co-operative, most of them being PhD holders or pursuing their PhDs. Some of them have an international educational background. For management courses, we had the best academicians as our professors, Chakrabroti Swapnajit (IIM Indore) and Bawa Jaslene (IIM Raipur) to name a few. Presentations, case study analysis, debates, workshops, career fairs are some of the tools used by teachers to enhance the classroom experience. Students are assigned to faculty and peer mentors who help them progress in their student life without hassles. FLAME invites guest speakers, some of the eminent industrial faces to share their experiences with students. We had the opportunity to learn something from entrepreneurs like Mr. Narayana Murthy the Co-Founder of Infosys and Uday Kotak, the Managing Director of Kotak Mahindra Bank.

Flame University promotes practical learning and all round development of the students through its mandatory Summer Internship Programme. Some of the companies offering internship to ungraduates would be RBL Bank, Reliance Industries Limited, Future Generali Life Insurance, Schbang Digital Solutions Private Limited, etc. During the times of pandemic, I did a temporarily remote social media internship at Web10gent consulting PVT. LTD.

For the year 2021, FLAME University has a placement record of 86% with the highest and average salary package ranging between INR 12 LPA and INR 6.5 LPA respectively. More than 40 companies visited our campus offering jobs in a variety of sectors: social media, marketing, financial and technological services, ed-tech, banking, business consulting, retail, project management, etc. In the last few years, FLAME University has partnered with leading Indian and International companies. Amazon, HDFC, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra, Mercedes Benz India, Tata Motors are some of the popular recruiters.

The University offers both need based and merit based scholarships. At the time of admission, best candidates are offered scholarships based on their final internal scores. After enrollment, students who rank among the top 5 percentage of students in their respective batch and have a minimum CGPA of 8.50 can avail scholarship. Top scorers in SAT exam with a family income of less than INR 8 LPA can apply for College Board Indian Scholars Program if they satisfy the eligibility criteria. Apart from that, there is FLAME fellows program for post graduate students and Special Scholarships for state and national level rank holders in sports and academics. Emergency need- based financial support is also available for students who are facing financial issues.

Established in 2015, the University has a modern, beautiful campus stretching over 60 acres of land. The annual fest called FLAME Kurukshetra is the most awaited event in which various Cultural, Sports & Management events are organized. Offering the best sports facility, the University has an international sized ground for football and cricket plus courts for tennis, basketball, badminton and volleyball along with an outdoor swimming pool and an adjacent 18 hole golf course. For avid readers, there is a well equipped library named after Vivekananda. Apart from this, there are cafetarias, seminar halls, lecture halls, conference rooms and guest houses. Students and staff have access to wifi facility. Various inter-college and inter-house competitions are held between the four houses namely, Aryabhatta, Chanakya, Vivekananda and Kalidas. The more than 20 clubs enable students to pursue their diverse interests and enhance their college experience. FLAME has a residential campus offering housing facility for students, staff and guests. There are separate hostels for boys and girls. The hostel fees varies depending on the type of housing facility you choose. Additional charges are to be paid if you choose an AC room or a room with attached bathroom. The apartment-style rooms available for twin sharing are clean, spacious and well furnished with all the necessary amenities. Students living in hostels have access to laundry facility on a regular basis. Each hostel has a separate computer lab. Apart from this, there is an infirmary, convenience store and shuttle bus service that runs from campus to Pune city and back. The hostel mess serves only vegetarian meals but the food is pretty decent. Lodging & Boarding fees includes dining charges and laundry charges up to 40 clothes per month.

While filling the application form, candidates need to indicate whether they want to appear for FLAME Entrance Aptitute Test or want admission based on their SAT/ACT scores. Those who choose to give the exam need to appear for FEAT, Essay Writing and Personal Interview online from home while the aspirants having valid SAT or ACT scores are exempted from FEAT and can directly appear for the video call interview round. Along with the test scores and interview performance, past academic record, participation in extracurricular activities, a well articulated SOP are other aspects taken into consideration for evaluation. Candidates are selected based on their overall performance so even if you score average in your entrance exam, but your application is strong in other aspects, then chances are you might still get in.
