Remarks

Gokhale Memorial Girls College is a very reputed and old educational institution. The quality of education provided in this college is out of the world. Very Disciplined environment is provided. 3 years in this college will shape every girl into a respectable, responsible and successful woman.

Course Curriculum Overview

The Syllabus is followed as per the Calcutta University Guidelines. The syllabus is updated and a new system of semester examinations were introduced by CU under the CBCS system 2 years back. Faculties of the College are highly qualified and renowned.

Placement Experience

We have a very prominent placement cell in our College and has tie- ups with big IT companies like Wipro And Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). More than 30 students are hired by these companies each year. There are also Webinars and workshops in the college.

College Events

The campus is decent. The college takes care to keep extra curricular activities and events in the college to help students explore their talents. There are several clubs like the Cultural Club, Literary Club and the Debate Club. There are inter college competitions and other events like Annual Fest, Freshers and Farewell Party, Teachers Day, Webinars, Workshops, Sports Days and much more.

Placement Experience:

I'm not sure but I think from 3rd year we will be eligible for placements. There are many finance companies, banks like HDFC, SBI, Canara,etc... & companies like TCS, Wipro, Capgemini, Deloitte, PWC,etc.... The highest package last year was like 9.64 LPA & in the year before it was 10 LPA while the average is around 2-2.5 LPA. Around 20% of the total strength gets placement. Even only few % of the total strength applies for the placements. My plan is to take a placement if I can or if not then off campusing and then gather work experience & do MBA later which will give me very benifits.

Placement Experience:

From Third semester, the students become eligible for campus placements. The companies like P360, EY, Deloitte, Tech Mahindra, Neutanix, BinaryWorks and few more visited our college for placements and mostly 15 to 20 offers were made Highest package was around 5 to 6 lpa 50% students were placed I am now preparing for govt jobs and side by side also applying for offcampuses. I have also given CUET for pursuing M. Tech

The hustles and joys of a college life.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I had chosen this course because of the Media and the lab facility, and my desire to understand the entire course in journalism and mass communication. The course that I took gave a bit more theoretical aspects rather than the practical ones. The practical ones were a bit less compared to theory ones. The areas I would suggest for improvement would be to encourage more assignments and provide more internship facilities to the students. The frequency of the exams for me was okay, and it was moderate, not difficult.

Studentsbecome eligible for placements from 7th semester. Various companies such as TCS, Infosys, Accenture, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Godrej, etc. come for placements. Earlier many offers used to come however in the recent years the number of offers made have reduced significantly. highest package comes around 10 to 11 lakhs per annum with average being 4-5 lakhs per annum. I have kept my options open after completion of degree in doing further studies that is Mtech or getting into a job whichever seems appropriate at the situation.

Students are eligible for campus placements from 7th sem. The names of comanies visited are TCS, Infosys, Capegimini,Tech mahindra etc. Some students Got 2 offer laters . Highest packages last year was 47 LPA (off Campus) 27LPA ( on campus). Average pakage was 5-6Lpa. The job role is Software Development. Percentage of Students Got placement is 92-95% In my Deoartment. Other is Around 70_90%. My plans to take placement from product based company.

I love computer science so I chose this department. The teaching in this department is very good and the labs are also very good. We have many exams in our semester.It would have been better if we had studied our theory paper a little better. And it would have been better if we had studied Android app development a little better.

One of the Best college in India.

I had applied for Ashutosh college, Muralidhar college, bethun college and Gokhale Memorial Girl's College for BSC psychology. But I did not get BSC psychology in bethune college so I was waiting for other colleges though my dream college was Gokhale Memorial girls College. First I had got a call from Muralidhar college and then after 2 to 3 days I got a call from vocal Memorial girls College. By call I meant that first my name came in the Muralidhar girls College merit list and then my name was published in the Gokul Memorial girls College merit list as this is my dream college I choose it over other colleges. So I don't regret my decision because, this college has excellent professors and great labs for practicing psychological practicals. Do not go by the past glory.

The admission was smooth, but in the payment process, I didn't get my money back from few colleges I applied for but didn't continue. All the candidates should keep an update of news and links of admission. SC and ST will get benifits along with OBCs, Calcutta University has bad placements and the syllabus has become a Little bit difficult.
