Remarks

To get into University Law College, Gauhati University , one needs to sit for the entrance examination, applications for which open up generally in the month of may/june, the exam is conducted after month or so and classes start from around August/September. The entrance examination is of 100 marks, and one needs to bear in mind that there's negative marking for wrong answers which is usually -0.5 per wrong answers. The exam is in written format and one needs to answer in OMR sheets. The syllabus for the examination is general English, general knowledge, logical reasoning, quantitative reasoning, etc. Practicing from airforce non technical exam question banks proves to be enough for this. But its better if one checks the syllabus in the guwahati University website. There are generally 500-600 applicant and 60 seats are available. 27 out of these 60 seats are unreserved and the rest 33 are for reserved category. Application fees is around 3000 and admission fees is 19525

Course Curriculum Overview

5

Faculty is great and most professors are PhD holders and if not than atleast they all have completed their M.Phil. All of the faculty is quite regular and great in terms of imparting knowledge. Most faculty members have attained there education qualifications from renowned and top most universities of the country and so there is no doubt about there knowledge.

Internships Opportunities

5

Most local firms and Companies hire students from our college as its a renowned college in the state/region. They are paid quite well and are they get established for the future too. Other than that most of our passout senior practice litigation in the Gauhati High court.

Placement Experience

4

Placements are fine. And firms to visit but most passouts go for further studies or private litigation. Generally firms visit and hire students from 9th semester. I plan to go for private litigation after getting my degree too. But those looking for placements will find the placement cell very helpful.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college has been very helpful to get students their scholarships from various schemes like ishan uday, and other minority scholarships. Apart from this most seniors have got their paid internships in local law firms and quite good stipends. Semester fees is around 20000 which is quite affordable in comparison to the facilities we are provided in the college.

Campus Life

5

Campus life is great. Seniors and other staffs are very friendly. College fests generally happen in the winter. The college library is quite good and has more than enough of books available. Apart from the college library, the university library (KK Handique Library) has a very large collection of books and journals available for students. There are many social groups / clubs in the college and the university which organise there functions time to time

as the batch size is very less ( 60 students) most of the students opt for higher studies and judicial services and very few students go for placements and internships. the univerity call some law firms but very few come due to location. but students get paced by their own hardwork.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I was interested in this field as it's a very interesting field as we get to know a lot of different cases and problems which are shut down from our daily life. However in my course of time , the curriculum that we have is not helping us to be prepared for our future practice as the faculty members don't have great knowledge of what they are teaching as well as we are not provided with any specific notes. We are not even given assignments which will make us active more.

Course Curriculum Overview:

This course is what I'm interested in pursuing. I want to be educated and get knowledge to be able to help others or myself in times of difficulties that involve court representation. Faculty includes good and qualified teachers, some are better than others but overall it depends upon the student to make the best out of any situation. I will take admitted to another college but that's my opinion. All teachers have different teaching methods. Some are good at speaking skills and communication skills but some lack them. Term exams are easy if you study that's the point and passing will also be easy if you study well enough. It's not as difficult in the first few semesters but as we approach the mid-semester it gets real serious to pay attention in the class and grasp the complicated terms of the law.
