Remarks

I applied for NIT TRICHY NIT SURATHKAL NIT ROURKELA NIT WARANGAL for the first four branches. According to the counselling my rank was allotted in NIT Calicut civil engineering department. So I couldn't attend other colleges. I was allotted a general quota. I think the minimum age is the same as the minimum age for national level engineering entrance examinations. The minimum rank for girls may be around 38-39k and for boys maybe around 32-33k(including csab). The admission process is done in the JOSAA COUNSELLING WEBSITE. We should apply for counselling and submit asked documents then we are requested to fill choices for the IIT'S NIT AND GFTI'S. This is done in seven rounds. Our seat allotment process is done in every round we freeze or accept and upgrade or reject and upgrade for any round. If accepted we are requested to submit all the documents to JOSAA and also respective colleges.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The civil engineering department is one of the oldest branches in NIT CALICUT. Also, it has strong alumni support which indeed gives us more opportunities for our career life. Faculty are much more experienced ones. All professors have doctorates and many research scholars are also present. They also write research journals. Even though they are UG, PG, PhD professors they deal with students in a very friendly and interactive manner which tend students to ask their doubts freely and also seek advice. The student ratio is around 1:3. As it is a national level prestigious university exams are conducted in a very strict manner. In sem 2, mid sem and end sem examinations are conducted with the addition of assignments and other internal evaluations. We may not get 90/100 marks but if we go through the teachings, notes and practice we are likely to get good marks.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

Around 100-150 students from UG are availing of internship opportunities every year. Many top companies like Google Microsoft Infosys, Indian Oil Corporation, Goldmann Sachs, L&T opt students from here.

Placement Experience

4.5

Starting from sem 6 students are eligible for campus placement. Many top level companies like visiting our college. Around 140-150 companies visit our college. For more information, you can also go through the below link placement.nitc.ac.in The highest package is around 45 lakhs. The average package is 10-11 lakhs. The median package is 8 lakhs. Almost 85-90 % of students are placed. I plan to do a job in the IT sector.

Fees and Financial Aid

For odd sems fee is around 75k and for even sems it is around 65k-70k. For the hostel, we need to pay monthly and the mess fee is collected separately. On average, we can expect around 70-80k for both mess and hostel in a year. For Kerela students, Kerela state provides some scholarships like e-Grantz. For non- Kerela students, many national level scholarships under MHRD and alumni provide scholarships For students who are economically poor can apply for laptops that are provided by alumni. Sc/st/ PWD students are asked to pay only hostel fees no tuition fee is collected for them. And for others whose family income is less than 1 lakh per annum are asked to pay only hostel and whose family income is less than 5 lakhs per annum are asked to pay 1/3rd of the fee and whose is below 8lakh per annum are asked to pay 2/3 rd of the fee. The remaining students are asked to pay all the fees.

Campus Life

5

By The time we joined, we are locked up in a home due to corona and recently poor network students are allowed to stay on campus and attend online classes. RAGAM a cultural fest AND TATHVA a tech fest are some of the biggest south Indian fests. As it is online the time they are conducted is not consistent. Many other internal fests are conducted. There is a vast library on the campus where you can find a lot of books and journals. Library even provides computers. As far as the look they are nice same as like colleges in movies. Sports are also considered to an extent. Inter college competitions are done. Many cultural and social responsibility activities are also done. A lot of clubs are there on campus to which you are allowed to join after first years. Many tech clubs like Robotics club AI club etc and cultural clubs like lnd, dnd and so on, we also have NCC AND NSS.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

I stay in a hostel inside the campus. As it is a government institution you cannot expect a high level Standard, it may be graded as average level, cleanliness can be expected. Meals are also not so good as from other states, it is difficult to adjust in starting days. Later on, as time passes u can adjust yourselves. There will be a hostel office we asked to provide our details and they will allott a room for us.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is the worst. Teachers rush through the portions so that they can finish at the earliest. It may be because the university has a unjustifiable timetable. There is very little practicals given. The ones that are given are just for namesake.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is under KTU syllubus do it's fine. There is a change in curriculum coming 2024 which i assume would make a lot of good changes. The curriculum gives you a head start For most of your work, you need to on your own but the faculty is there to help. The frequency of exams is weekly tests + monthly exams. Its not too difficult of an exam.

Placement Experience:

The students usually start appearing for campus placements in their 6th semester. The training for the campus placements is started for all the students from the 4th semester. Many companies visited for campus placements. But one main problem is that most of them were low packages. Around 4LPA. Some were between 4-6 and a very few between 6-10. Most of them got placed in our batch in some company.
