Remarks

So, the anxiety of getting into a college after passing school is real and in these days of cut-throat competitions, I still remember the sleepless nights I have spent in fear of dropping a year. I had applied under this same course in colleges under CU but Kalyani Mahavidyalaya was the first one to upload the merit list with my name in no.7. Even with 90% marks, my name was not in the 1st lists of other colleges and I didn't want to wait. Our college just needed minimum 60% marks with no age criteria but need to pass the 12th boards. The entire process of applying was online, even the process of admission. And then there was a day of verification in college which a simple process of teachers going through the documents provided at time of applying to see if they are valid. Everything happened systematically and smoothly with no problems as such and now I'm a part of this college, persuing my degree.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Microbiology comes as one of the most difficult subjects yet one of the subjects with most scopes of jobs and research both. Being biology as my favorite subject and in need for stable jobs, I decided to persue this field and my college had quite a reputation in this department. Department's student strength is quite low, 41 which gradually ended up as 30 with 5 well-qualified faculty members (2 of them holding P.hd and others with a post-graduate degree). This small number makes the department feel like a family and I am amazed by the teaching skills of the faculty. Not only studies, they encourage us to do well in co-curriculums, nourishing our hobbies and make us do what we like to do. My interests towards makeup was encouraged by my teachers a lot. Semester exams are scheduled timely even when sometimes they postpone the dated due to unavoidable situations. The questions would appear difficult to some but with routined study-sessions, exams are easy to clear.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure is quite affordable requiring you to submit semester fees before each semester exam. Given the high lab cost for microbiology, the course is the most expensive in the entire college but quite cheaper compared to other private institutions. The tution fees are quite cheap. There are no direct scholarships provided the college but government and other scholarships can be applied to and benefited from. I personally never needed to apply for any scholarship. There are also no job opportunities on campus but anyone is free to apply to other jobs and internships off-campus.

Campus Life

3

The college has canceled every fest due to the pandemic but it celebrated holi, saraswati puja every year, with an excursion and an alumni meet to boost our social skills and involvement. My department has a well-furnished lab but somethings need to be replaced and improved. The library has all the books and journals that I personally need and allows students to use them as per will. I really like the library of my college. The college has its own football team but due to small space for practice, they rarely practice on campus. The campus has canteens, common rooms and student's union group for students to get a friendly atmosphere to study. The campus also has public social media websites where anyone can freely interact and share about their campus-life.

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is very relevant as it provides us an overall knowledge of biology and not dividing it into various sections rather giving us an insight of every aspect of biology. It includes everything such as microbiology, zoology, botany, physiology, molecular biology and so on.

Completely relevant. As the college is autonomous it has its own syllabus. Which matches with the net gate jam exam syllabus. When someone came our college for seminar they strange that we know this much. Exam are quite difficult in 2 months interval.

Placement Experience:

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.

Course Curriculum Overview:

B.Sc Computer Science Faculty: Student ratio is = 4:23 may vary a bit Faculty are well Qualified & Teaching method is okay good, but not to the mark like very good or excellent. The exam term was timely (sometimes it gets a bit late due to some natural disaster like cyclone, heavy rainfall, etc or any govt. & university delays), and the exam level is nearly too difficult, something like in between moderate to difficult.
