Remarks
I applied for Bsc Hons Applied Mathematics at JMI. The cutoff of JMI for the general category is around 40 marks, while for the Muslim category it is around 30-35. You need to score at least 55% in class 12 to be eligible for this course The entrance exams consist of questions from the mathematics of class 11-12 and some reasoning questions The level of difficulty is less than JEE Mains exams. But one needs to have a command on the basic concept of 11th and 12th to clear this exam. The teachers are supportive in nature and they will be happy to solve your queries no matter how silly it is. There are many scholarships for economically weaker students In JMI there are many clubs and societies which helps the students to acquire skills and improve their networking The demerit is that the teachers are always in a mood to finish the syllabus as early as possible due to which some topics are there which becomes quite difficult to understand.
Course Curriculum Overview
I decided to choose this course as I was interested in mathematics and programming languages, we had around 5 subjects in each semester and no of students in each class were 40. The teachers are highly qualified with experience of 5-10 years. In online classes they thought us my providing their notes and took the classes on google meet. Our classes were from Mon to Thursday so we get a good amount of time for self-preparation. There were 2 internal exams within 3 months and the level of difficulty was medium so to pass in internals was not challenging while the level of difficulty of external exams is in between medium to difficult so one needs to practice a lot to score good in externals
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees is 7800 Rs annually and for economically weaker students and Girls, there were many scholarships that helped the students by providing financial support. There were no placements of Bsc hons Applied Mathematics and students usually prepare for IIT JAM, UPSC and other exams
Campus Life
There are many clubs and societies of almost every course of Jamia Millia Islamia. There is a society of Mathematics named Maths Geeks JMI, it's page is on Instagram it posts content related to mathematics in the form of reeks and memes which makes maths engaging and intriguing. For the students who are interested in outdoor activities there is NSS and NCC. One can get almost every book in the library
