Remarks
I applied for silliguri institute of technology for BCA and but eventually in the end i got into Haldia Institute Of Technology through WBJEE ranking in BTech engineering and so i opted for it. The admission into the college was really very easy and hassle-free, the minimum marks required to get admitted into the college is- 60% in 12th boards, there is no minimum age, not that I know of any as of now. During the admission process, you must need a xerox of almost all the documents you have, you must not miss any of those or you'll loose your chance. After your admission you will be notified by the officials there about your counselling dates and orientations.
Course Curriculum Overview
I was not sure about this course at first and I was scared at first while opting into it but it changed with time. AEIE has loads of opportunities, be it at core companies or at software companies. You will get to learn about both the sectors here, here you are not bound to read a single concept of your course, which made my mind to not change my branch. Faculties here are very helpful, won't say you will learn everything by them, obviously, you got to do your grind here. Teachers are extremely qualified here, few of them are still pursuing their career in higher studies and some are writing and publishing their research papers. The teaching method is obviously the same as any other college that has one on one interactive classes. You get enough time to prepare for your semester exams and they are timely termed, you'll face problems only if you have not studied anything and so it is only difficult for those students. The difficulty is moderately fine for regular students.
Internships Opportunities
Almost 70-80% of students get placed in our branch, the average package starts at around 3.5Lakhs and the highest obviously depends upon the capability of a student and his achievements during these 4 years. Top recruiters of our college and branch to is Haldia Petrochemicals, Wipro, Infosys, HCL, Ambuja Cement and many more. It depends on what type of internship you want to do, as an in the company working one( core) or a private company as a software or web developer.
Fees and Financial Aid
Well talking about the fees structure, it is definitely very low as compared to any other private colleges in West Bengal. For each semester you got to pay approximately in between about Rs. 40000 to Rs. 50000 depending upon the semester and department. And hostel fees is Rs 12000 for a semester (there is no monthly system and excluding mess fees). Financial assistance is given to students who are in need. TFW students have cut off fees, they are given relaxation. There are plenty of scholarships and internships for students, all they have to do is to search and find them out and also the teachers and respected HODs also recommend students for internships and campus jobs.
Campus Life
We have 2 annual fests in a year, one being the technical fest Prayukti and the other the cultural fest Riviera. They are conducted in the month of March-April. Our college has the biggest on-campus library in West Bengal, and that would answer your question about how many books of different contents and contexts it would have, you will never have any problem regarding any books here. Sports are given extra care and notice in our college. There are 3 huge cricket/football fields and a huge basketball field accompanied by plenty of small fields near the hostel formed as a badminton court and volleyball court. Tournaments, intercollege championships are held on a regular basis. And there is a building for Indore games too. There are loads of social groups, clubs and societies in the college run by students itself. Two of the famous media groups of our college are HITian Inside and The HIT Times (you can find them on all of the social platforms).
Hostel Facilities
We are provided with all the basic amenities in the hostel room that any other hostel consists of. Talking about the food quality, it is moderately fine, not too good and not too bad. You won't get food like your home but good enough to let go of your cravings. There is a mini store inside the hostel itself which is helpful, consisting of every snacks you would need, Registration is done from the Hostel allotment section in the college and you have to get allotted before any year like you can't get in a running year. You can only get in the odd semester.
