- Environment and nature around the college is pleasing.
- Faculty are very supportive and labs are well maintained.
Dislikes
- Attendance criteria should have been more relaxed.
- Not many companies visit for campus internship, students have to try off campus to get internship in 2nd or 3rd year to get internship.
- There is a language barrier sometimes when faculty explain a topic in bengali and non Bengali students are unable to understand it.
Course Curriculum Overview
Branch specific curriculum after completion of 1st year is decent and there are industry oriented elective courses in 3rd and 4th year to prepare the students for employment in their respective engineering field. Industrial internship is also included for 4th year students to make them ready for job opportunities. There could be improvements in the structure of the cource, especially for 1st year to make it for branch specific. Studying Chemistry or physics in 1st year is unnecessary. There are 3 class tests in a semester at 1 month interval and 1 final semester exam with medium to hard difficulty level.

Campus Life
The Aryabhatta Library of HIT is well renowned to be one the largest libraries for a private institute in west bengal. It has a wide range of books for every branch of engineering and sciences, especially for computer related branches and programming. Sports facilities in the college are enough to fullfill the needs of every student in the college, there are two sports ground in the campus where sports events like cricket and football championships are held. Extracurricular activities in the college including drawing wall magazines and club activities.
Hostel Facilities
There are 3 hostels alloted for 1st year students - P2 and P5 hostels are located inside campus and Ranichak boys hostel is located outside of campus. I have chosen the Ranichak boys hostel, the hostel room has 3 single beds for 3 students and respective study table and chair for each student and 1 attached bathroom. The hostel mess has both veg and non veg food for every student. Hostel is very affordable at a fees of ?24,000 per year.
Admission
I applied for engineering in Information technology in Haldia Institute of technology and Heritage Institute of technology, I couldn't clear the cutoff for the course in Heritage but cleared the cutoff for Haldia so I took admission here. Haldia Institute of technology gives admission to students based on their scores in WBJEE and JEE mains examinations. Having a rank above 20000 in WBJEE is generally enough to get admission in branches like IT and CSE with specialization but under 8000 rank is needed for CSE main branch.
Faculty
Faculty to student ratio is decent and faculties are very friendly and approachable. There are three mentors for each batch in 1st year for about 75 students, students can report any issues related to college or health to their respective mentors. In one semester, there are 3 class tests which are used to asses the internal marks of the students and 1 final semester exam which constitutes 70 marks out of 100. Exam papers are of decent level but students can easily get decent marks of they study class notes well.
Night Life
The timing for college library is 10 am to 8 pm on working days and 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Students must not leave the hostel after 7:30 pm and they must submit an application if they want to leave after that. There is not much night life outside of campus in Haldia since it's a small township.
