Remarks
I had applied to a couple of reputed colleges including Mithibai and Wilson. K.J. Somaiya College of Arts and Commerce was always my first preference and luckily I got under the first merit list. So, without giving any second thought I took the opportunity and confirmed my admission. I had applied under the Gujarati minority category. So, basically, if you are from Mumbai and you are a Gujarati you hold a good chance of getting into this college if you use this category. There were around 3 merit lists for each category. And the cutoffs vary depending on the overall score of the respective year.
Course Curriculum Overview
Initially, I had enrolled in B.A. because I wanted to study psychology. But during my first two years in college, my interest shifted towards Economics. This solely happened due to the faculty. Also, the number of students was very limited which made it easier for both the faculty and the students to learn better and interact effectively. The sessions were so informative and it was never limited to books which made the entire course even more interesting. The exams were not that difficult since it was more of a regular evaluation. So, I personally never found it difficult to pass the exams. Also, a library of KJSAC is very huge bearing a wide range of books and test papers. The overall learning experience is very holistic and never a burden.
Placement Experience
Various companies like JP Morgan, KPMG visit the college for recruiting final year students. The ratio is not fixed, but it depends on the basis of the academic performance of students as well as needs of the company. A minimum of 3.5 lacs package is offered.
Fees and Financial Aid
I think compared to any other course, our fee structure is cheap. Especially when we compare it with the quality of education we receive at this institution, it's totally worth it. There are various campus placements available after graduation. As far as internships are concerned, students who really want to grow in their careers should take the lead and approach the faculty.
Campus Life
Hooner is one of the biggest annually conducted fest of KJSAC's cultural forum. It's run by students and the team is built every year. They have many social/cultural projects going on throughout the year. There are many outdoor and indoor activities in the college. Even dual degree courses are available. The library is the biggest perk for avid readers.
