Entrance Preview

I took the Manipal engineering entrance test in 2011, that is conducted annually by Manipal University. I scored 203 out of a total of 240 and bagged one of the first counselling slots available for selection of my major in engineering. I was ranked within the first 1000 ranks nation-wide and this gave me an opportunity to choose one of the best streams of engineering and also avail a scholarship on my tuition fee.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course structure covers all the required subjects for a major in a particular branch. for instance, the course for ECE included subjects like Power Electronics, VLSI, Analog and digital circuit systems, Microprocessors and Communication systems. Although the first two semesters (1st year) requires each student to complete a few credits in some common subjects like Physics, chemistry, communication using English etc.

Internships Opportunities

MIT, Mnaipal, allows its students to sit for internship opportunities viz. summer internships and 4-month long final semester internships. While companies like Microsoft provide 25k as a monthly stipend for summer internships to students from branches like CSE, ECE and It, there ae multiple other companies that provide opportunity for industrial internships in the last semester of the 4-year B.Tech course.

Placement Experience

4.5

Placements in MIT, Manipal are highly competitive and rewarding. Although the college placement office is trying to penetrate through some of the best firms out there, companies like Microsoft, Amazon, SAP labs, National Instruments, NXP semiconductors, Toyota and Maruti Suzuki Ltd. are regular visitors on the campus. Some other corporate biggies include Goldman Sachs, Yes bank, Visa amongst an interesting list of successful market leaders and competitive start-ups. Besides on campus recruitment drives, MIT, Manipal also encourages its students to participate in off campus drives to explore more opportunities.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is slightly towards the steeper side with around 3 LPA for tuition in each engineering branch. While some of the courses are slightly cheaper than the others, engineering in MIT, Manipal is an expensive course to complete. Add to this the hostel and food charges which might range from 25k to 2 lakhs a year for different kinds of rooms.

Fees and Financial Aid

MIT,Manipal provides freeship on the tuition fee to the first 1000 rankers in the engineering entrance test. This freeship can be maintained by scoring a CGPA of 8 and above year after year through the course of engineering (B.Tech) in 4 years.

Campus Life

5

The students of manipal have a diverse opportunity to explore their abilities in extracurricular activities and sports. The annual cultural and technical fest allows students to participate in a multitude of events that test their social, cultural and technical skill sets rigorously. There are multiple clubs and project teams like IEEE-Manipal chapter, IE-E&C-Manipal Chapter, SAE, Formula Manipal etc.

Hostel Facilities

5

The hostels in Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal are known for their supreme quality and service. With worls-class infrastructure, they can accommodate over 3500 students at a given point of time. They are clean and well-maintained. Well equipped common rooms ensure that students have scope of recreational activities within the hostel.

Exam Structure

MIT, Manipal has a semester-system in its B.Tech course of 4 years. each semester has 4 compulsory sessional exams (normally 3-4 days long) where in a student will be required to sit for 2 different subject tests. Each exam is a subjective type exam and requires one to pay attention to the curriculum of the exam as they are packed in a tight schedule. The end semester exams are spread over a period of 12 days for 5-6 subjects with a day to prepare for each exam.

Admission

After the results of the engineering entrance test were announced, I was called for counselling. Here, we were supposed to give our choices of streams/ branches and prioritize them as per our requirement. I select ECE, CSE and Mechanical as my first three options ranked at 1, 2 and 3 respectively. After a long day, the branches were allotted and documents and fees were to be submitted to secure a seat.

Faculty

4

The faculty at MIT Manipal is highly impressive and experienced. While there are young professors who are still pursuing their PhDs with the university, this can be seen as an opportunity for the enthusiastic students who might want to volunteer for addition project experience under their mentorship. The highly experienced professors are well-versed in their subjects and provide the much needed guidance in each subject.

They fake a lot of their placements....now the bangalore campus currently has 40%placements but they fake the placement rates to make it look like its 80 or 90% which is sad...i heard that if u have really bad marks and couldnt get placed(a lot of ece and eee people, cause they will purposefully try to fail u so that u can apply for the couse again) they will make u sign a document were u agree u never sat for placements.

Students at RVCE become eligible for campus placements typically from the seventh semester onwards. Several reputed companies visit the campus for recruitment, offering a wide range of job opportunities to students. Some of the prominent companies include Infosys, Wipro, TCS, IBM, and Accenture, among others. These companies make a significant number of job offers across various profiles, including software development, consulting, and research. The highest package offered varies from year to year and can range from ?10-20 lakhs per annum, depending on the company and the profile offered. The average package generally falls between ?4-8 lakhs per annum. The percentage of students getting placements varies, but RVCE has a consistently high placement record, with a significant majority of students securing job offers during campus placements.
