Ajit Kumar Roy's Review On Cotton University, Guwahati

The procees of admission at Cotton University is through both online and offline mode. Our university conducts entrance examination for admissions into the Post Graduate courses and PhD only, but there is not any kind of entrance examination for the Undergraduate courses. The admission criteria for Undergraduate courses is totally based upon the score of PCM in 10+2 examination. The minimum marks of 10+2 (PCM only) for General quota shoud be above 95% and for OBC quota the minimum marks is approximmately 90% in PCM (10+2). My marks in 10+2 exam was 89% but in PCM it was almost about 91% so I got admission through General quota in UG Program.

I choose the Physics course in Undergraduate Program because I love Physics and also love to know about nature. And the professors of our University is too much good, they were very supportive to students. And qualifications of the professors is PhD. The faculty to student ratio is 1:3. Per semesters there will be two exams one is mid-term and other is end-term. The level of the exams is very GOOD.

Cotton University fees are very less as compared to other private institutions. Admission fees in 1st year is around 8000, in 2nd year 5000, and in 3rd year 5000. Form fillup fees is around 600. And most good thing is that Computer Science branch of Cotton University is self funded with around 25000 Rs for each semesters.

The cotton fest is held every year in the month of June or July, and also Varsity week is also held there every year which is about Sports, Debate, Street dance, Functions etc etc etc. Cotton University has vey big library with air conditioned any many kinds of facility. And the great thing is that the our library has the largest collections of books in the whole North-East region. The classrooms is Big and vey neat and clean . Also there are some social groups and clubs for the students.

Now comes the main part i.e. Hostel life. The hostel rooms is neat and clean. There is total of 4 boys hostel and 3 girls hostels. Also some new hostels is under construction for both boys and girls. The mess food is average but not bad. The registration process for the hostel is very simple and registration and held at the time of admission.
