Asutosh In a Nutshell

Course Curriculum Overview

1.5

The entrance to Asutosh is fairly simple. You only need to appear for your +2's exam as it a college for general subjects.

Internships Opportunities

The course curriculum is very pleasing. Taxing, but pleasing. It leaves you with a sense of purpose after you complete a portion and the modules are well spaced and definite.

College Events

2.5

The applied sciences departments are placed quite comfortably. The usual companies are Wipro, TCS, CTS and Ranbaxy. Their campus offers are usually 1-1.5 LPA CTC + perks. If you are lucky, you may also be placed in Cognizant, Microsoft and Google.

Fee Structure And Facilities

For the most part, the exams at college are spaced out to two annually - a mid-term and a selection exam. Though the college authorities are generally lax about the exams, not sitting for them altogether is frowned upon.

Fees and Financial Aid

Hostel seats are few in number, but the general accommodation is comfortable if not plush. The food is also satisfactory. All that for something around Rs. 500/- annually. That notwithstanding, if the student seeks for nearby accommodation, there are plenty of PG's and rental houses available in the locality.

Campus Life

4.5

In case of certain students serious financial problems, the college waives tuition fess if the candidate can produce an Income Certificate. The college also allows for a set of installments for self-financed courses.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The management is entirely lax, the office staff strangely reluctant to help, but the Student's Union will help you out whenever necessary. Well, they'll help even when it's unnecessary too!

Alumni/Alumna

From food festivals to music festivals to small competitions year round, Asutosh has it all.It starts off with a freshers' welcome from the college itself. Music, singing, dancing, theater... the whole nine yards. This is quickly followed by a departmental freshers' welcome and then by the Student's Union. All through the year, there are music festivals and food festivals and theater galas. There is no need to spend a lot of money to enjoy here. In fact, most of the fun is free! All such events are open to people of all genders, descent, race, religion, sexual orientation, political or social status.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I've always found economics to be really interesting and thats why I choose to persue it. I wanted to dive deep into the actual concepts and workings of the economy and understand how the world works from an economist's point of view. Sadly the curriculam doesnt bridge the gap between theory and real life. It focuses heavily on textbook and not how the world works.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would say the course is good but you have to opt for masters and PhD to get a good placement. After bsc there's not any placement. The curriculum was basically practical and theoretical based. But I think it should be more practical so that we can get a job after doing bsc. The teaching method was good I didn't have any problem with that. As it was under Calcutta University so the exam questions were too difficult, sometimes it came out of our syllabus , i think they should change this a little bit .

Course Curriculum Overview:

The syllabus for BSc. Microbiology Hons. was in line with my interests. Few topics like virology, bacteriology, and diversity of the microbial workd are what drew my attention to pick this course. Although there are some portions which one would consider "boring", but I believe every subject has its interesting as well as boring portions. It's seems fair to judge a subject by seeing if the "boring" portions outweigh the "interesting" parts or not.

Course Curriculum Overview:

In terms of relevance and comprehensiveness of the course curriculum, my rating is solid 4.1 out of 5. Because it offers a variety of courses like compulsory english, environmental science, constitution values of India, Inter Disciplinary Courses where one can opt for a variety of subjects which change along with the course proceeds or semester changes. Not only that two major papers and one minor paper are present throughout the semester. As a student we should be well aware of our country and its law as well as how we can keep our environment healthy followed by sustainable development.
