I qualified JEE Mains examination and qualified for JEE Advanced examination. Through JEE Advanced, I made it to this college. I secured AIR 7125 and was offered Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering in this college. I opted for this college, because it is a reputed college and holds the IIT tag.

It's a common engineering course curriculum wherein you have to deal with detailed prospects of what you have studies in class 11th and 12th and further detailed knowledge on the subject is given. It's quite hectic syllabus, but overall we're doing engineering so we have to deal with all difficulties and at the end of the day Grade Point Average( GPA ) is all that matters.

Talking about internship and stipend, Indian School of Mines lag nowhere behind any other IIT. It offers great opportunities in that aspect, and big companies like Goldman Sachs, Amazon, Samsung, etc offer internships along with other foreign companies.

Placements and job opportunities here is same as any other new IIT. Highest on campus package offered this year till date has been 40 lakhs per annum by Adobe. Not only for Computer Science Engineering, but for other branches as well, it offers great job opportunities.

It follows the common IIT fee structure. Everyone has to pay a mandatory of Rs 30,000 for hostel and mess charges and apart from that the tuition fee structures varies as follows. Rs 2,00,000 per annum for General and OBC students with their parents annual income 5 lac 66% waive off for General and OBC students whose parents income lie between 1 lakh per annum to 5 lacs per annum.

Merit Cum Scholarship - It's a scholarship offered to top 10-20% of the students based on their Grade Point Average in the exam. The eligibility for MCM Scholarship is that your parent's income should be below 5 lac per annum. Minority based scholarship - If you belong to a minority and your parents' income and is below 2.5 lacs per annum, you can avail 100 percent waive off in the tuition fees if you hold a valid minority certificate.

The hostel facilities may not be that great, but it's quite satisfying for a common engineering students. We have LAN Access, and are offered room sharing. Mess food varies everyday. For some days, it does not hold the capability of being swallowed and for some days its quite good. On an average, the hostel and food facilities are quite average in the college.

After securing a rank in JEE Advanced examination, I sat in the Joint Seat Allocation counselling (JoSAA) which is an online counselling procedure, combined for IITs, NITs, IIITs and other Government Funded Institutions. In the 5th round of the counselling, I was offered Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering in Indian Institute of Technology ( Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad (IIT(ISM)).

Faculty is quite mediocre at the current moment as the college has been recently converted into IIT. There's a possibility that the faculty of the college might improve in coming years as the college has now come under IIT Council, and all the grievances of the college shall be finally met.
