Reviewed on Jul 30, 2021(Enrolled 2020)

Remarks

I had also applied for other colleges like NIT Calicut [JEE], CET Trivandrum [Keam], TKM Kollam [Keam], etc but I took my admission at Mar Athanasius College of Engineering {a,k.a MACE} cause I was interested in thier newly announced course of B.TECH Cse with Data Science. To take admission at MACE or any other engineering colleges working under the A P J Abdul Kalam Technical University [KTU] one needs to write the KEAM exam conducted yearly by the KTU. And then they publish the rank list for the college allotment process which is based on your KEAM score out of 960 and your 12TH - PHY, CHEM & MATHS marks where both have an equal weightage of 50%. And I enrolled via the OBC quota during the allotment. There is a lot of different quota's for each community.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Since the course that I have choosen is relatively new, the KTU has yet to finalize the course structures. But I have heard that the 1st two years would be the same as that of Btech computer science and then on its branches to AI, data Structures, Machine learning, Deep learning, etc. The course is broken down into 8 semesters [4 odd & 4 even]. July - december are even semesters and Jan - June is odd semesters. It is typically not that tough to pass the semester and the end sem exams are not that hardcore. We do need to collect and maintain credit points through various activities to move over to the next sem and also to opt for honours or any other extra elatives that you are interested in studying. All of them are qualified teachers and there are PHD and Honor graduates from NIT and IIT's. All of them are friendly and supportive. And the college has a huge faculty as they have 17 courses across 2 streams.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

Well, i haven't gotten myself into an intership as of yet as I'm just getting started but i have heard a lot about various internships from my seniors. Popular companies like IBM. VIRTISSO, TATA, INFOSYS provide internship opportunities in our college from roles like frontend and backend developer to media head and industrial trainee.

Placement Experience

4

Now talking about placements about 95% of students who participate in the college placement programs usually get placed, and plus there are also off-campus placements where you can also go to other colleges under KTU and participate in thier placement programs too. Since mine is a newly introduced course [2020] and I am its first student there is not much known to speak about placements in my course but as for in general the average salary package for last years [2020,2019] was 3lpa. And the highest was 11 LPA in the computer science department. And the highest package of 23lpa for off-campus placement [2020]. And around 400 companies visited our college for recruiting last year.

Fees and Financial Aid

So talking about fees we need to pay a one-time amount of 14,000rs at the time of admission for sports, arts, exams, insurance, WiFi, and other various things (excluded of tuition and hostel fees] and a yearly tuition fee of Rs 9650. The in-campus hostel charges vary from building to building but fall in the range of 6k-10k per month. And there are fee waivers for SC & ST students. As for scholarships, you can apply for various govt and private scholarships through the college and the faculty will guide you through each and every step. Some popular govt scholarships are EGrantz & MCM. Also, there are opportunities for an internship with a nice stipend from the 2nd year onwards. And in the final year, it's mandatory to have an internship under your belt.

Campus Life

4.5

Our college has a heck of ton load of arts and tech fests each year ranging from Sanskriti to hackathons like Dot hack. And we also have a lot of clubs for each branch. And many international chapters like IEEE, NETX, SAE etc. We also have a coding community too. Then for books we have a 2 floor central library and a digital library. And lab facilities are also top notch and there is campus WiFi avaliable. Then in terms of sports we have indoor auditorium for badminton, football court, volleyball court, basketball courts, cricket field, gym and even a swimming pool. And the campus has its own team for each sports and they go for competitions and P.S there is sports quota for admissions via that.

Placement Experience:

Campus placements are highly volatile taking the stats from over the past three years there has been an up trend as well a down trend, I hope I will get placed through on campus interviews, the highest package of this year was for two graduates who got into IBM with 22 lakhs per aanum, there are few who didn't get into any of the companies while there were others who got int Amazon and other reputated companies, if I do not get into a reputed company through my college on campus placements the. I'll be aiming for higher educations most probably
