Remarks

Don't join this college. If you are coming through IIT JEE, don't even dare otherwise you would be doing the greatest mistake of your life. This college is the worst thing an IITian can have.

Entrance Preview

IIT JEE - 887(SC):I always wanted to be a Computer Science guy. Because I love Network and Web Application Security since my 10th standard. That's why while filling up the choices for counselling I did CSE(Btech or Dual) upto 50 choices. For me particularly, it was my interest which led me to opt for CSE.

Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

If Focus on research is not considered and if it is then 4/10.Course structure is not good enough to drag you toward research field. You may find some of the courses unnecessary. Some interesting courses are there but unavailability of good faculty wins the game.

Internships Opportunities

I don't know much about stipend but companies which provide internships are few. Some companies do visit every year but the names go same every year.Samsung, Amazon.in, Atkins Global, Arista Networks, Coal India Limited, Zomato.

Placement Experience

2

Main companies came this year:Google India, Abobe, Samsung, Microsoft, Amazon.in, Atkins Global, Arista Networks, Coal India Limited, Zomato, Verizon Maximum package offered this year is by Adobe that is around CTC 38 lakh. Maximum placements offered is by Coal India Limited.

College Events

1.5

Srijan: cultural fest of our college. It is celebrated every year. Concetto: Tech-fest of the college.

Fee Structure And Facilities

It is feasible. New structure of fee in IITies yet not implemented here.Annual Stats:SC,ST : 52000-55000OTHER: 1,00,000 - 1,20,000 --- seems high but In the new fee structure it depends more on the gross income of the family.

Fees and Financial Aid

I don't know so much about it. But there is a scholarship MCM which gives upto 90,000 per year.

Campus Life

2

Campus life is boring. It's better to sit in rooms and do you things. Campus is not close. Any outsider can come and do things they want. Basically students and local people share facilities. Campus is not clean and appealing. Dhanbad city is also not good enough to have a park in it. You can imagine how good is Dhanbad city as it is declared as the dirtiest city of India in recent survey.Gender ratio is like Vatican city. In my batch gender ratio is 1:20 means 50 girls over 1000 boys. So lets not talk about it.We have clubs for extra curricular activities. Some of them are doing good eg. Dramatics Club, literary Club, Cyber Labs etcRobotics competition holds occasionally. Like once in the year. One more thing you are not allowed to roam with your female friends as per the rules. No body forces you to obey this rule but if they want they can.

Hostel Facilities

2

Hostel facility is average. Rooms are small like a kitchen( There is no place for table after putting two beds ). Two persons share a room. Some students are given chairs, some are not. No place to put two chairs together. No cameras for security purposes. Only you are responsible for if any theft happens. Limited Internet Connection. If you are not good enough in using proxies and ssh tunneling, You have to rely on your data packs.Mess food is worst. No matter how many time you complain it will go the same way it used to be. You have to rely on Food on call, Home delivery food services.Mess and Hostel charge is 30,000 per year.

Alumni/Alumna

The only thing our college is running is because of our alumni network and their dedication. They often visit the college and guide students about the fields they want to pursue. They check for the recruitment for start-ups first in the college.

Exam Structure

Exam structure is average. Labs are not frequent. But we don't have quizzes, group discussions and debate competitions. Exams goes semester wise. 2 exams in each semester.

Faculty

2

Not good as it should be. I would say less than the average. Some professors are qualified but other are not. Faculties seem less interested in teaching a particular course. Also they are not interested in helping students in a particular project. In single sentence they are not teaching us. They are doing their job and making money.Note: I am not talking about all professors. Some good professors are also there.

Placement Experience:

Mechanical branch in terms of number of students placed is quite high but if it is about how many students get elite packages it's less. The average for our branch at our college is 8-9 lakhs but top companies which are into our core space for long are our college partners.

My plans after degree is to pursue masters or right away get on with my family business as we are already into trading chemicals. However, from the number of students from our stream that apply for jobs through campus, over 80% are placed from campus. Labs to industries that deals in manufacturing of chemicals and exporting the same are the ones where students of our college get the opportunity.

Highest package from our campus is eye catching as it's 56 lakhs and for chemical branch it was 34 lakhs. HUL, Sun Pharma, public limited labs and various R&D research centres are those that have helped us to get best available jobs in market as the competition is high but BIT Mesra has still managed to place over 80% students last year.

From second semester we are taken for an hour session for special training. It is optional till 4th semester but from 5th semester onwards, it becomes mandatory and we have no choice but to go through that hammer. Finally, from the last year's 1st semester companies starts coming and we can apply for the same and that is how placements are done here.

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities is decent for students. The placement of BIT sindri varies from branch to branch but the core brances like Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering has evergreen placements. Among the eligible students around 90 percent students get placed. But in branches like civil and production engineering, its not the same. They have very low placement rate around 20 to 30% of eligible students get placement. For CSE, IT & ECE the placement is highly dependent on the situation of market and it varies early. The students are eligible from 6 the semester onwards for placement . The placement drive starts from August or September and companies visit till students graduate. The top recruiters are TCS with more than 80 students from overall campus , TATA power nearly 20 , LNT, JSW , Vedanta , TATA STEEL, JSL, ADANI, ABG , Shyam steel and For it sector companies like samsung , cognisant, hitachi, TCs, Spyder visited for 2k21 batch. For the batch 2020-2024 among batch size of 710 around 620 offers were made. The highest package is given by samsung which is around 28 LPA , students of CSE, IT, ECE and Electrical are eligible. For IT sector average package is around 6 lakhs. For core sectors companies heightest package is offered by vedanta to Electrical, Mechanical, Mining which is around 14 lakhs average package is around 7 LPA..
