Remarks

The admission process was fairly simple. Our college takes admission through COMEDK, KCET, and management. I got through COMEDK. My rank was pretty good in the 3000s but I oped for NMIT because it is an autonomous College that gives us many benefits as the college can decide pretty much everything on its own. We got into counseling and selected the college. After that, we had to pay a minimum fee that is fixed at counseling time. Then we visited the college. The admission department was very friendly and everything went smoothly. They guided us at every step. You can get CSE in NMIT even around 6k rank. CSE is good here. Most of the teachers are cooperative. They keep updating their syllabus from time to time. It's a good environment overall.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The faculty is good at NMIT. Teachers are mostly cooperative and will help those who want to learn whenever they ask. All faculties are having atleast an MTech degree. We have labs for all practical subjects and our teaching methods include slides, blackboard teaching, seminars, etc. Term exams are conducted well on time and we get a 2 months summer break every time. It's not very hard to pass the exams if you study decently.

Placement Experience

4

There are some good companies like nutanix that gives 18 lpa, dell (8 lpa), accolite (8lpa), unisys (6.5lpa) and mass recruiting companies like tcs, wipro, infosys with approximately 3.6 lpa - 5lpa package. The above list is just an example. There are around 40+ companies visiting the campus every year. In CSE minimum of 80% and a maximum of 100% placement can be seen. The placements are fairly decent. Not great packages but average.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees are a bit high if you are coming by COMEDK. Tuition fee - 183000 Other fees - 35000 Hostel - 75000 Mess - 25000 (approx) This is a yearly division. There are various scholarships available from the Karnataka government for the students. Campus placements are average. Almost everyone gets placed in CSE. The average package is around 6 lacs per Annum. Mass recruiting companies mostly offer around 3.6 lacs per Annum.

Campus Life

4

NMIT is well known for it's place in extra curricular activities. Our drama club and dance club wins a lit of competitions. There are all kind of clubs with different activities round the year. Some of them are, art club, drama club, dance club, literature club etc. NMIT also has NCC & NSS. The sports teams are good and interested students cam get huge exposure here. All the clubs are managed by the students and are really very nice. There's also an Ecell. They focus on entrepreneurship and innovation. There are various tech groups like the hacking club at NMIT. Campus life is decent. The location is a drawback hence it has a demerit. But apart from that it's good.

Hostel Facilities

4

Rooms are quite small as per my judgment. Two people share 1 room. We have 2 girls hostels and 4 boys hostels. There is one more hostel outside the campus. Room cleaning facilities are provided and washrooms are cleaned every day. Hostels are clean and have all facilities that are the basic needs of a person. There's also a vending machine recently installed. Hostel rent is 75k and mess bill is approximately 25k. The hostel registration is simple. We can do that at the time of taking admission and paying some advance fees. If you come early then you can also have a room of choice. The mess food has variety. It's good compared to Many others. But mess food is always messed food and we have to complain once in a while for things to get better.

Placement Experience:

The placement cell is very active in our college. Every year more than 30+ companies come to our college for recruitment . Our seniors from 7th semester get placed in many companies and before getting placed in the company our college offers internships to every student. Around 80 % of the students get placed in companies and work efficiently. The average package for civil engineering is 2.5 lakh per annum.

Placement Experience:

RIT's placement scenario is very good, even for the most unpopular branches such as Civil Engineering. Starting from the 7th semester, students are allowed to participate in campus recruitment, and companies come to the campus for the entire final year. The major recruiting companies are L&T Construction, Shapoorji Pallonji, Brigade Group, Sobha Developers, Atkins, PWD, and Infosys for the non-core sector. Civil students on an average get ?5–6 LPA as salary, and the highest offer is usually in the range of ?12–15 LPA, depending on the company and the position. Almost 70–80% of Civil students are placed, while some of them go for higher studies or government examination.Site engineer, design engineer, planning engineer, survey engineer, and trainee engineer are the core positions that are offered. Also, non-traditional roles in IT and consulting can be taken up by those who are not interested in core engineering profiles.I will first acquire some work experience in the industry after completing my degree and then will pursue a master's degree in structural engineering to gain further specialization.

Students become elegible for placements from 7th sem onwards but we are encouraged to do internship before final itself. Most of the companies that come here aren't t1 or even t2. Highest probably would be 12L only if the student is exceptional but most would secure a package 4-6. And the percentage of students getting placed is <50%
