Course Curriculum Overview
I am really interested in computer science and also data science has got a good scope in future, so I opted this course. For each department, a HOD is there and for each class, a group tutor is there to solve problems of students. About 15 faculties are there in the computer science department and about 7 technical staffs are there. Most of the faculties have completed their Ph.D. from premier institutes like IIT and nit. Some faculties are MTech graduates. The teaching method of teachers here is very good. We can freely ask any doubts and also the bond between teacher and student is very good that students can freely ask their queries. In each semester 2 internal exams are conducted and also at the end of the semester-end semester exam is conducted. The exams were of a good standard. Not too easy and not too hard.
Internships Opportunities
There is a training and placement cell working in the college to give assistance for students regarding interviews and placements. Many students got internship opportunities. Management skills and organizing skills can be improved if we are working in those sorts of internships. And if we have technical skills then we can use these skills in the assigned projects for us.
Placement Experience
From the 6th semester onwards students become eligible for placement. 62 companies visited for placements. The average package is 4.7 LPA and the highest package offered is 20 LPA. Companies visited include TCS, Oracle, Wipro, Infosys, IBM, cognizant, etc. In the computer science department, about 93% of students got placed in various companies.
Fees and Financial Aid
Since it is a government-aided institution course fee is only govt fee. That is 8225 per year. Other than the course fee the expense will be there for a hostel. The hostel is also provided by the college but is hard to get for first-year students. Second-year onwards it will be available. But since private hostels are available that will not be a problem for first-year students. For financially backward students scholarships are available. Some of them are the AICTE tuition fee waiver scheme, merit cum means scholarship, central sector scholarship, fisheries scholarship, IOCL scholarship.
Campus Life
The campus life here is very much enjoyable. Annual national tech fest takshak and annual cultural event Sanskriti are the two main events of our college. Takshak is conducted in October and Sanskriti is conducted in March. Our college has a good central Library and department library with plenty of good books. Well-furnished labs are there with good facilities. There are facilities for sports and other extracurricular activities. Football ground, cricket ground, swimming pool, basketball court, volleyball court are all available. We have a football team and cricket team in our college. Many clubs are run by students. Some of them are IEEE, Hack club, Google developer students club, CodeChef MACE Chapter, etc.
Hostel Facilities
College hostel facility is available from the second year onward. For first-years private hostels are there. Some of them are silent valley, Chakravarthy. Food quality in private hostels is average and in college hostels, it is of good quality. College hostel is allotted on the basis of distance of your home from college.
