The best polytechnic College for metallurgy

On the counselling website this college was in my No 1 position luckily I got admitted to it. I am currently in the Metallurgical department which is one of a kind in all of West Bengal. The faculty members are awesome and the community is also. Seniors are helpful. You have to score decently in JEXPO examination, should rank in top 2000 to get admitted here, for various trades it differs though. The admission day was a long one though as there were a lot of students flocking for the same purpose but it went smoothly.

Actually at first I didn't know much about this trade just choose it because it sounded cool and uncommon like mechanical, electrical, civil. But teachers made us realise what an important role metallurgy plays in developing a nation. There are approx 60 students in our trade and 7 department teachers and there are others too like workshop assistants etc. All of them are highly educated in this field especially one have doctorate in metallurgy. His teaching methods seems to be quite interactive with individuals for their growth. The exams are taken in due time and although passing seems to be easy scoring high is actually difficult.

Companies give internship to eligible students as junior engineer with 10k stipend. It helps in achieving the industrial experience required for this field Big companies like Jindal, Tata comes every year because of the quality of the students provided.

After the 5th Semester apparently companies start interviewing students. I am going through campusing right now. I have been selected by Aurora for further interviewing. Highest package is of Jindal around 17k and average package is 11k with accommodations. 85-90% students get placement. I am planning for higher study completing B.tech after getting the degree.

The fees structure is based on state govt polytechnic rules and regulations so it's very low. Our college gives on campus placement to the worthy and almost 90% of them get placement in companies like JSW, JSL, Aurora, Tata, Super Smelters and many.

The technician fest takes place in August while the annual is on September. The library has plenty of books for all the students from different branch there is also a society library for specially that branch. Though the students came from different region of West Bengal the brotherhood is strong. We friend on each other in hardest times and enjoy together also. It is disappointing though as a technical college it lacks many sports activities but different activities like industry visit, conducting project works in workshops are fun. Our whole branch is a social group made up of upperclassmen to help others in need.
