Likes
- Dicipline among students is maintained throughout the curriculum. College is necessarily strict on curriculum, overall behaviour of students, for the students who came for a change. Good gpa and placement comes out from every batch.
- Good placement (companies come and provide pretty solid on campus placements.)
- Anti ragging committe is there, College is NBA certified. Big firms come for campus placements.
Dislikes
- College infrastructure barely works. WiFi is standard. No network jammers accross campus. Cameras mostly don't get monitored.
- Bad quality hostels. Students barely get enough room to surround themselves in a learning environment. Hostel monitoring needs to be improved a lot.
- Food in cafeteria is pretty standard. Out of 20 items in cafeteria, only 10 are available that to during lunch break. All the other times, only some drinks and fast foods may be available.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum can be considered good, if we are talking about 2018 scenario. From 2025 and beyond, things have changed, drastically in the IT market, which is yet to be implemented in the course curriculum. However I chose Diploma in Computer Science and Technology (DCST) as my 3 year course because I have decided myself the aim I have for myself.
Internships Opportunities
During the course, you will have total of 2 internships. One will be in 3rd Semester and the other will be in 5th Semester. The one in 3rd Semester will be free and will happen in college. You will be trained by the college staff. The one in the 5th Semsester, either you will be raken out to another olace for internship or it will happen in college. In the 5th Senester internshio, just like what happens in Btech happens, also happens here i.e you pay x amount for the inter ship certificate and the marks assigned for that.
Placement Experience
Campus placements are good. Big names are associated with TPI for campus placements. But for Computer Science students, very few companies arrive, that too with very less salaries. (not worth it). It is generally reccomendable if you can do a Btech is come college and work on your skills there, your employbility gets higher. Highest package from Computer Science is 20 LPA (off-campus) and lowest package is 1.8 LPA (on-campus). Generally on campus placements range from 2 to 3 LPA.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees structure is pretty standard as per a diploma degree in computer science is concerned. 6 semesters in total (3 years course duration - 2 semesters/year - 22k per semester if you oft for management quota otherwise 16k per semester). Scholarships include Swami Vivekananda Scholarship, HDFC scholarship, and many others. Generally scholarships like these are followed by a eligibility exam which the student needs to pass.
Campus Life
There is only one annual function that is held in a scale. Called "Abahoni", it is an annual fest where students enjoy performances, dance their heart out, once every year. Apart from that there are events like Viswakarma Puja, Saraswati Puja, Annual Football Tournament, Annual Sports, Inter College Science Exhibition. Students go to different colleges to participate in different events like exhibitions, competetions etc. In classrooms, in some of them smart board (projector) is there, while some are normal.
Admission
My sole factor that decided my college was the distance factor. I couldn't afford to do daily passengery/stay away from home and study. All other factors are a bonus and recieved later. I opted for Management Quota in my case. I never applied to any other colleges except this. Comming to the admission part, you can opt for the JEXPO exam. The forn fillup starts in the March-April time frame. Ideal time for admission is after completing 10th boards. If you opt for counselling, ranks upto 20k-25k are accepted for Computer Science and Technology at Technique Polytechnic Institute.
Faculty
The facultu to student ratio is very huge which I believe is good. But the relationship between them is getting worse. In current scenario, Most students aren't able to connect with teachers, resulting poor grades, less intrest in class, low attendance. Comming to exams, it is very good. Quality Question papers are provided during exams targetting all types of students. Still some students (most of them) get some backlogs (which is solely student's fault)
Night Life
Free Gym is there for those who want to train themselves. Specially held late after classes Cafeteria is there, but only half of the menu is available that too during the peak times. Most of the other times only some of the packaged beverages are present. Library is there available for book borrowing, reading. PYQ's are present for those who want to practice. An E-Library system is also present for those in need for materials remotely.
