IITG Review : Pros and Cons

Placements of this college were at par with other Old IITs which helped me choose this college over other colleges. The campus is also beautiful and is spread over 750 acres with all the facilities like cricket ground, gym, swimming, food court and weather is also awesome.

The course curriculum is pretty chill and not much load is given to a person unless he works daily consistently and completes his/her assignment on time. Also the electives offered are updated each semester so that we get to learn new things every semester. Professors are very experienced and have a deep knowledge about their subject. There are around 25-30 faculties in the CSE department which sets the student faculty ratio to around 3:1. Few professors are not that good in terms of teaching although they have very good knowledge and if we ask them doubt they clear it instantly.

Internship opportunities are very less for MTech CSE student. There are a lot of companies visiting the campus for hiring interns but in most of them MTech CSE is not eligible. Overall max 3-4 students are selected every year for internship in the batch of 67 people.

Students are eligible for placements in their final year of BTech/MTech. There are around 120 software companies who visit the campus every year for recruitment. The campus life is the most amazing life at IITG. The scenic view, hill station feel, lakes around your hostel make the campus more beautiful and a better place to live. There are total of 11 lakes in the campus with the campus spreading over 750 acres. It has its own market complex which has a lot of shops and you can buy everything you want. The campus is around 25kms from the airport. Every hostel provides single rooms to each student(boy) (don't know about girls hostel) with each room having fast internet access via ethernet cable. The food provided is average and eatable. Most of the students have a heavy breakfast (which has a good menu and is generally good). Every hostel has its own canteen and juice center. It also has indoor games (Table tennis, carrom, pool, foosball) with a small gym, TV room, music room, reading room and a stationary. Overall the hostels are new and have good facilities.
