Remarks

IIT Ropar is one of the new IITs with a completely new infrastructure with young and energetic faculties. For PhD admissions, they generally conduct interviews in the month of May for July session and November for December session.

Course Curriculum Overview

Faculty Student ratio is quite good here. Due to this student can directly interact with any faculty to discuss their ideas, problems and suggestions for improvement. They are very open to them. Moreover, the faculty profiles are very good here and most of them have done their masters and PhD from abroad well reputed universities. My PhD supervisor has done his masters from University of Waterloo, Canada and doctorate from University of Alberta, Canada.

Internships Opportunities

NO internships for PhD students, we have to look on our own.

Placement Experience

There are no such campus placements after PhD. We have to choose our own path accordingly, whether we would like to go for research or to an industry. Hence, PhD students generally go for Post docs in foreign universities based on their research interests and publications.

Fee Structure And Facilities

For PhD fee structure is less, for one semester we have to pay approximately 40000 INR. We get monthly scholarship of 31000 INR from institute or in some cases the funding come from projects as well. It means we can cover all our expenses with this amount. The institute fellowship will only hold for the period of five years. We can also apply for other fellowship programs such as Prime Minister Research Fellowship.

Campus Life

Due to Covid pandemic, no such fests are organized but they generally have one technical fest and one cultural fest each year. IITs generally have world class facilities for books, journals access in library. Sports facilities are also there and there are a lot of groups such as astronomy, art, dance, coding etc. which a student can join.

Hostel Facilities

Hostels accomodation are good here. So, no need to go outside if you are not married. Currently, some hostels are under construction after that accomodation will be improved. Hostels for married students are under construction. Internet facilities and single occupancy rooms are there in main campus. But in transit campus, the hostel are not that much good. But the transit campus will ne shifted completely to main campus within a year. Only four departments are there in transit campus and rest of other departments are in main campus.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for campus placement in their final year (7th semester). only a few companies made no offers. I can recall only 1 name Nation with NAMO. highest package in Civil branch was 14LPA. Average is 6LPA. for all branches highest was 42LPA with average 12 LPA. placement % is 60-80 among all branches which is improving every year. I am planning for higher education.

Placement Experience:

From the third semester students become eligible for the placement like internships and main placements start at fourth year. companies like Wipro, HCl , Zomato, swiggy, Google, etc many companies visit our college and many offer have been made to the students. IIT Ropar: A dream comes true

IIT Ropar is better in terms of research and development. All the faculties and different MoU gives great exposure to students so I have chosen this college . Others iits haves their own pros and cons but like others iits Ropar stands among top 15 iits which is institute of national importance. If I had got more marks in IIT advance then I will surely got other top college but yes I am happy with my college and it's beautiful life that it has given me. Students have to go through jee mains and jee advanced based on that rank they have to enroll in josaa counselling and after that they enter into the college alloted on the merit of ranks. I have applied to other colleges like bits pilani ,jadavpur university that are equivalent to iits . I make it to jadavpur and bits too but preferred IIT over it because of the life , tag ,alums. I applied to iit gandhinagar electrical engineering and got rejected as my jee advanced rank was not as par as required to take the course.the admission process of our college is based on an examination called jee advanced and if u get a good rank and pass that examination u can enter our college.i also applied for iit hyd,iit jodhpur etc in which I have got an admission in another branch as I said earlier as I like the electrical engineering branch I joined iit ropar .or college might be worst in sports in comparison to other iits but they are always better than other iits in reasearch orientation side...Read More
