The actual life at IIIT Pune

Pune is an IT hub and is closer to my home town Nashik, plus the quality of life in a city like Pune is way superior. I was also selected in IIIT Nagpur but did not join as Pune city is far better than Nagpur in terms of resources. Thus I chose IIIT Pune.

There are only 2 courses available - Computer Science and Electronics and Communication. Both the courses have 90% of the subjects common. Thus common faculties. The class strength of CS is 50/60 students more than ECE. There is a very small faculty group. Total number of faculties is hardly 15 and thus it is 1 faculty has to manage more than one subject. Thus don't be surprised if you find out that your hostel warden is also your calculus faculty. The exams are thrice a semester and difficulty level is high. Faculties don't tend to give marks very easily and thus many students, instead of being smart have a low cgpa. The faculties are all PhD holders and thus are good teachers but are very rigid with practical and exam marks.

I am currently in the 2 nd year of my college. The internship opportunities provided by the college are for 3rd year students. They get recommended to companies along with letter if recommendation and also receive a good stipend.

Placement Opportunities are good. As its a new college the first batch to pass out was in 2019. There not 100% campus placement but the smart kids have nothing to worry about as Pune has a lot of companies hiring. The highest salary for the first batch to pass out from our college was 22 lakhs per annum which is great!

The fee structure is reasonable. There is scholarship available through the Maha DBT Scholarship or national scholarship portal. Campus jobs are available to 4th year students as well as internships and letter of recommendation is also available to 3rd year students.

The life on campus is good. The social life is good as Pune is a great city. As students are less thus the clubs are small ad limited but that doesn't mean its any less in talent. The college clubs have won several competitions all over India and the student life is good. There are several groups from drama to robotics and everything. The students are the best part as they are your family once on campus. As Pune as many other colleges students go to there collage fests and enjoy a lot e.g. Mood Indigo IIT Bombay. The social life is very good.

There is no girls hostel. Girls live in rented apartments (10 mins away from the campus) provided by the college where as boys hostel is in the campus. The college has provided with busses who makes trips to and from college to girls hostel. Thus there is not much of a hostel life at least for girls.
