Remarks
I applied for few NITs but JNU was my top preference. Got in it second round of counseling and stuck to it. 12th marks requirement is just as for other NITs and other institutions which allocated through JoSAA counselling. We will alloted seat based on our JEE score through JoSAA counselling.
Course Curriculum Overview
Curriculum is designed specially to designed to bring out Engineers with social knowledge into the society. It's the curriculum which attracted me to prefer this over NITs. We are all provided with well-qualified faculty. We even have few ex-IIT professors. Teaching is pretty good. Exams are conducted on time every semester regardless of what, even during corona pandemic times, our exams are done almost on time in online mode. And it's not difficult to pass, but at the same time, it's not really easy to score high.
Fees and Financial Aid
Tution fee: ?62,500 per semester and few extra fee like exam fee, medical fee etc are added (some per sem and some per year). In total it makes around ?1,30,000-1,35,000. The above-mentioned fee is for students who are not eligible for any scholarships. But based on category and income, scholarship is provided. Can't be mentioned in detail as I am not eligible for any. But it's the same as in NITs. Hostel fee: 11,000 per semester which includes room rent and facilities bill (water and electricity). Mess bill is separate and it's received every month. It dynamic and and varies every month. On average it can be around ?2,500. There is no special scholarship for hostel or mess.
Campus Life
Jan-Jan JNU, an open day is organized by JNU every year in November or December month where students from various schools in university exhibit their work and the best are awarded prizes. For participating, it's purely for students of University but students various schools, colleges are invited to see the accomplishments of JNU and it's students. Some of hostel have basketball court. At University level NSS and NCC are available & at school level, various clubs are available for student activity. Technical clubs - Coding, Electronics, Robotics, Web Dev ....etc clubs Cultural clubs - Art, Debate, photography, dance, drama ....etc clubs
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facilities are just okayish. A cot, chair, and table are provided for each student allowed with the hostel. Based on room size, there 2 to 6 members per room. Few single rooms are provided, but only for very few students till now. Hostel fee is too high for the facilities being provided, but will be better in in future. It's a new school in campus and no special hostel pre exist for us, efforts are being made for a hostel with best facilities and it might be available in couple of year. Mess food is not bad. Breakfast and dinner is generally okayish, but lunch will be difficult sometimes. But canteens are always available for you if you feel not ok on any day.
