Remarks

I applied for many colleges such as vit, bits , mcm dav , and panjab university and I got admission in pussgrc as it's a panjab university regional centre and a government college which is affordable and has renowned respect. I didn't avail any quota for admission. For admission you have to get a 75+ percentage in 12th and a cutoff percentile in jee mains and then you fill in for counseling and if you get a seat, you fill in for admission in college. It's a nice experience in pussgrc. The atmosphere is very healthy and safe. You get proper security. The teachers are very good. Hostels are provided for both boys and girls.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I chose ece because I liked it. One gets more opportunities in all fields in further career development. The faculty is well qualified. We have mtech and Ph.D. qualified teachers and professors. They teach very well and clear all our doubts. Term exams are held on time and difficulty level depends upon how much you study. If you study well you can easily pass the exams.

Internships Opportunities

3

I don't know much about this field. Our college provides internship opportunities throughout the year. But specifically, our internship happens in the 8th sem. All the projects you perform are supported by the teachers.

Placement Experience

3

Placements are okay. Many companies visits like infosys, Microsoft , google , wipro, etc . Highest package went was 9 lacs/Anum and the average package is 6-7 lacs/annum. Students get placements based on their skills and marks.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees are moderate. Books are available in the college library. There's no scholarship. There's a quota for the economically weaker section. Our college provides various opportunities through training every summer. One can do internships too.

Campus Life

3.5

The annual fest is aqueous and the tech fest is technovation . There's no specific time or day or month for the fests to be held. There're many sports activities. Even an Inter-college sports meet is held every year. There are many groups and clubs like shor- theatre group , platform . Our college also has ncc and nss.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Hostel facility is good . Rooms are a bit small but okay . You get three meals in a day and various snacks too . Meals are affordable and genuine . Taste is good too . Hostel and mess registration is done in the hostel office only .

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.
