Remarks

After 12th it was hard trying to choose from a list of colleges. I made up my mind to choose Mechanical during my higher secondary studies. Since I had a low KEAM score private colleges were the only options left for me. So I looked for colleges matching my interests. Finally, I had two options left it was Saintgits and SJCET. SJCET had NBA accreditation for the mechanical branch and it was very near to Palai town which was appealing to me. So I went to the college to get more details. The college had such a nice infrastructure, the building was nice and the campus was beautiful and neat. The staffs were helpful, so I decided to go forward with the admission. KEAM was necessary to get an easy admission there. There wasn't any interview or anything. I didn't get any scholarships since I didn't match the criteria so I had to pay full fees. A fitness certificate must be submitted to the college while joining.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The college mainly focuses on academics so the studies were very organized. Many of the faculty members from the Mechanical branch were PhD holders and experienced lectures. The college held 2 internal exams for internal assessments. The exam difficulty level varies. The branch had a sufficient amount of faculty members. Mentors were assigned to students to evaluate their studies, a group of 10 students each had a mentor.

Internships Opportunities

4

Intership is a must during a BTech course. It is available from sem 2 itself. The sem break can be used as a time to attend intership programs. Few companies offer a stipend for internships but for me, the experience is much more valuable. Intership certificates have great importance during placements.

Placement Experience

4.5

The college offers good placements. A number of reputed companies including Infosys, TCS, Experion Technologies, UST global, cognizant, Quest etc conduct placement activities. More than 55 companies visit on average and the salary package is 3 lakh per annum on average. Placement training will be given from 1st year onwards and a much more important training will be given during 4th year. Placements will be held during semester 7. A student must have a 60% score and no backlogs to attend the placement. My plans after getting the degree are to get placed from the college itself because it is the easiest way to get a job after the degree.

Fees and Financial Aid

The general fees structure is 37,500 per semester. There were many scholarships for students. If you have an 80% above mark for PCM in HSE or a 75% mark in PCM in CBSE or if you have ranked in KEAM between 20,001 and 25,000 you are eligible for scholarship category 4 which means your course fees now will be 32,500. Then for category 3 you need 85% for PCM in HSE or 80% for PCM in CBSE or rank in KEAM between 15,001 and 20,000 now your course fee will be 27,500. If you have 90% for PCM in HSE or 85% for PCM in CBSE or rank between 10,001 and 15,000 you are eligible for category 2 by which your new fees will be 17,500. If you have 95% for PCM in HSE and 85% for PCM in CBSE or a rank below 10,001 then you are eligible for category 1 which the fees will be only 8,200 per year. The fees structure include course fee + value-added course fee (5000) + PTA fund (once a year) + University exam fees.

Campus Life

2.5

The college gives more importance to academics so the social life is pretty much dull. The college had auto shows and department fest fee years back but the decision to stop all that. Now the college offers a Technical fest and an arts fest each year. A sports day is held each year which have almost no importance whatsoever. The college departments offer technical groups such as ASME, SAE, IEEE etc. The Bootcamp is pretty much active and it offers good events once in a while. The college has a music club and a Jesus youth program. The library is one of the best you can get, and it is one of the greatest positive of the college. The library holds a Total Collection of 61,249 (as of March 2021). It includes an ebook section of almost 6,500. The classrooms are good and well ventilated. The college also has 2 NSS units and 1 NCC unit.

Campus placements are highly volatile taking the stats from over the past three years there has been an up trend as well a down trend, I hope I will get placed through on campus interviews, the highest package of this year was for two graduates who got into IBM with 22 lakhs per aanum, there are few who didn't get into any of the companies while there were others who got int Amazon and other reputated companies, if I do not get into a reputed company through my college on campus placements the. I'll be aiming for higher educations most probably
