Remarks

I got admitted into the program on my 12th board marks. But, since 2018, things have changed. Entrances are held to secure admission into a program. 2020 was an exception due to the pandemic. Age is not a criterion as far as I know.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

I chose this course as I was interested in the subject of Physics and it was the nearest college to my home and during that time, less attendance didn't cause much of an issue. I can't say about the same thing now. Estimated faculty:student ratio (per batch) = 3:20. Currently, there are two professors with a Master's in Solid State and Nuclear (expt.) respectively. And another newly inducted professor has a PhD in Material Sciences. During my time, the teaching quality was decent. The semester exams usually occur every 6 months. And the mid-term of each semester happens right in between 2-3 months from the beginning of the semester.

Fees and Financial Aid

The tuition fee for the course is very low esp. around 10k per year. Exam fees account for almost around 1k per sem. There aren't any immediate financial assistance provided by the institute itself but financial assistance can be availed from the different state/central scholarship schemes, etc. Since B.Sc. (Hons. - Physics) isn't a professional degree, one should not expect a job call right away. The new CBCS syllabus though has brought in some skill development courses in various disciplines which can create a pathway if one is interested in employment opportunities.

Campus Life

1.5

Books across a wide no. of arenas are available in the library. The is the central library as well as respective departmental libraries. The Guwahati College Week is held each year in January/February. Various games like cricket, 5-a-team football, badminton, chess, carrom, volleyball etc are played.

The course geology focuses on Earth's processes, natural resources and environmental challenges. It prepares me from real life application, field work, laboratory works and problem solving. To enhance the course more field study and hands-on experience is needed, guest lecturer from professionals in the field is required.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The aspect that influenced me to choose this course is , computer science. I'm interested in coding and programming. The curriculum lacks in preparing you for real-world applications as it focuses on mostly theory part . The improvement they can do is , by teaching students practically more and theoretically less. Because coding requires practice. The difficulty level is average , so frequency and timing of exams are fine .

The curriculum is good, but the syllabus seems to be too old comparing today's current world. This curriculum includes 41st semester, starting with C++, Java, data structure and algo. since I am in the final year for me, currently, it's networking. helps in learning the basic things, but to cop up with the real worls, you need to get in touch in your own
