Remarks
My home is in Delhi and IIT Roorkee was comparatively the closest and the best institutes around which was the main reason that I set my mind in getting in here. Also, it is ranked pretty high in the NIRF rankings. To Crack the cut-off here, I attempted twice for the CAT exam and in my second try I finally succeeded. The admission was being done solely on merits and personality. I applied here through the website of IIT Roorkee and paid an application fee of INR 1600 for the process.
Course Curriculum Overview
My MBA program was 4 semester long, spread over two academic years. Through the curriculum, I was able to gain knowledge of the core management concepts and techniques in the first year which are, thereafter, upgraded to advanced knowledge and practicing skills in the areas of specialization opted for by us in the final year. Taking about the Profs here at DoMS, they were very friendly in nature and as the class size of comparatively small, we were known to our professor by name. I could easily approach any faculty at any time. Both the faculty and the curriculum were good.
Placement Experience
Placements are good here. Branded companies like RBS, KPMG, Bristlecone, Vedanta, Infosys, HCL, MAZARS, Cognizant, ICICI Bank, Kelton Tech, TCS, etc came here for placements during my placement year. Coveted profiles like Product management were also offered by leading high-growth startups. I am working in one of them with a decent salary package of INR 14 LPA, and one of my friend is even working in Deloitte with a salary package of around INR 18.7 LPA.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure of my MBA program was a bit high, around INR 8.2 for the whole program of the 2-year program. The hostel charges were not included in this amount. The cost being high, the institute had several options of availing financial aids to help us with the fee.
Campus Life
In my opinion, IIT Roorkee offered the best infrastructure facilities and has a beautiful campus. Here I was able to stretch education beyond classroom sessions and put emphasis on exploration, experiment, discover and realize my potential. In order to help us achieve that, a number of activities were evolved that helped me develop traits of teamwork, trustworthiness and create the ability to synchronize my individual objectives with the group objectives. Also, I never saw a dull day here because of the many distractions available here for us that included Trekking, Rafting, Billiards, Table Tennis, Squash, Basket Ball, Lawn Tennis, Gymnasium, Himalayan Explorers Club, Hobbies Club, Boat Club, Swimming Pool, Sports Stadium, Library, and lots of Hobbies Club.
