Remarks
I didn't apply for any other college in particular. I attended counselling for college, and there I chose many colleges, then I got selected in RCC Institute of Information Technology. I have OBC - B quota. The admission criteria, it was through the WBJEE Entrance Exam, so I had to get marks more than the cut-off. And age, one must pass class 12 to get past the entrance exam, so atleast 18 or more than 18 is eligible for admission. We had an online counselling process. I attended the counselling. On the first round of counselling, I put the name of the colleges in a wrong way, so then in the next round, I changed it, then I got RCC IIT, and the stream I got is Electronics and Communication Engineering. It was a nice journey altogether.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this stream because I like dealing with electronics and I am quite interested in this field. And also I found out that there are many opportunities in this stream/ course. The faculty: student ratio is 1:45 (approx). Teachers are highly educated and qualified. And their methods of teaching are pretty good. They ask a question in between class and do interact with us, the students, a lot. They also make us do certain assignments, and exercises for our practices. Though we are having online classes, and work from home, teachers are doing their job pretty well. As we faced a covid pandemic during our admission time, so our yearly schedule got pretty hectic. Our session started in mid-November, and we had to attend our semester from the 2nd week of March, where we should have got 6 months, instead, we got roughly 4 months and for the 2nd semester, it's quite a rush too, the semester is coming fast. We got good teachers, who made our exams easy for us, by making us learn amazingly.
Internships Opportunities
Our placement is with very good companies like TCS, Cognizant, IBM and many other companies. There are many internship opportunities available in our college. There are many extracurricular activities in our college like Tech Fest, Coding Competition and Robot Fights, etc.
Placement Experience
The placement opportunities of our college are pretty good. From 3rd Year, students become eligible for campus placements. The placement cell of RCC IIT is very efficient. The highest salary package offered in our college is 8 lakhs per annum and the lowest salary package is 3 lakhs per annum. TCS, Wipro and Infosys are some of the top recruiting companies for our college.
Fees and Financial Aid
In the previous year, I heard it was Rs 50,000, but in our year, it has increased almost Rs 20,000 more. It's kind of a hike for middle-class people like us. In my case, I haven't got any scholarship, financial assistance or campus jobs yet, because I'm a first-year student.
Campus Life
The College campus is great. Though we could not go to college, like the way students did before the pandemic, met some seniors, and they are so helpful. There are pages on Facebook, regarding our college, and RCC Techz (our tech club) and many more. Annual Fest and Tech Fest - TechTrix. The month of this Fest is usually February. There is a huge Library in our college and plenty of books and journals. Whenever needed, what book you want, just say, and our librarian teachers will provide you with every book. I haven't been in classrooms yet, but I think it will be a lovely experience meeting our classmates. There are a number of sports in our college, there are football, vollyball and cricket grounds on the campus. There are more than one such groups or clubs. There is one called RCC Techz, our coding club. And also Rotaract Club of RCC IIT holds a major position in RCC Institute of Information Technology.
