Remarks

In 2017, before going to counselling we have to choice fill the college along with steam you want to pursue according to your preference and it was an online process. After submitting your choices you have to visit any nearby counselling centres which are mentioned on the portal itself. All the counselling centres were in West Bengal only which means you have to travel a long way if you are from other states. The purpose of counselling was to check all the required documents are valid followed by depositing a fee of 20000 as security money which will get adjusted in your first-semester fee. I choose the Asansol counselling centre for mine. There was a total of 3 rounds of counselling but you have to visit the centre for the first round only and then you can choose to either lock or float the alloted college. I had only applied for Haldia Institute Of Technology and as per my JEE Mains rank, I got Mechanical engineering as my stream.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I choose the Mechanical Engineering branch here because I really like Motorsports and apart from IIT Kharagpur only two colleges have formula III racing team in the whole West Bengal and our college is one of them. Teachers here are really very helpful if you are in need. Most of the teachers here have completed their PhDs and those who haven't been pursuing it. Even the lab assistants and supervisors here have a good amount of knowledge. But the thing is if you don't participate actively the professors will also act like a normal teacher who comes and writes on the board and just leaves. The curriculum offered here are really appreciable but they are just the right amount required for you to become an engineer not too light and not too heavy. The college has more than enough faculty members as per requirement.

Placement Experience

3

The placement in this college is average which means around 60-70% of the students gets placed but the thing is everyone gets placed in IT companies like Infosys and Wipro, Irrespective of their stream. This means IT companies here act as mass recruiters. And the average package that these companies provide is around 3.2 LPA. Almost nobody gets an internship from the college only those whose family/relatives have some contacts with any company officials gets an internship without contact it is very hard even to do industrial training necessary for the last year students.

Fees and Financial Aid

For the students of my year, the tuition fee is INR 44,000 per semester. And if you choose to stay in a hostel then you have to pay an additional fee of INR 12,000 per semester for lodging only which means for fooding you have to pay extra as per your consumption. But don't worry the cost of food here is acceptable and budget-friendly. For each semester you have to pay an exam fee of INR 1200 to the university (MAKAUT). You won't see many fees hike in this college.

Campus Life

4.5

You can find a lot of clubs and social groups in this college. Some of the clubs are department-specific but there are no restrictions for other departments to come and join. Some of the club and groups are as follows: The HIT Times, Manab Racing, IEEE, IETE, Samarpan, Needs, HITIAN Inside etc. Every year in the month of March we celebrate our Annual fest which is known as 'Prayukti'. The library too has a name which is "Aryabhatta Library" and it has all the books that you will require in your curriculum, it also has a digital library with all the equipment provided in a large room. In our college, you can witness a number of sporting events which is held throughout the year.

Hostel Facilities

4

This is the thing every HITIAN is proud of because the infrastructure of the college campus is something that catches your attention on the first visit. It has a total of 5 hostels for boys and 2 hostels for girls inside the campus and 1 hostel for bachelor faculties as well as students from other countries (eg. Bangladesh). Every hostel has its separate mess on the ground floor. Every hostel has its separate ground. There are 2 all one departmental store on the campus itself. Every department in the college is equipped with WiFi. Post office and Bank is also available on the campus itself. Food quality is average but is really affordable. 3 ambulance are available 24*7 for any medical facilities, which take us to any one of the three hospitals nearby and using our college identity card we can avail free of charge facilities.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Personally i opted for electrical and electronics instead of the branch of my choice is because my scores were not enough to secure a seat in CSE. But EEE is pretty cool as well for those willing to grow in this branch. Our curriculum exposes us to the rapidly growing sectors in the industry and educates us of all we need to know about the course in depth. If you want to continue ahead in a research field, this Institute is the most supportive. The exam questions are also relevant enough and considering we only need to actually stress over end semesters, its fair enough per semester. It would be better if our professors removed the attendance criteria rest im fine with everything else
