Remarks

I chose to attend this college since it is the best college for male students to study psychology in Kolkata and I was intent on pursuing bachelors in my home city. The admission process involved the online submission of the form, after which it would take few weeks for the merit list to be uploaded on the college website. Once your name appears on the list, it is important to visit the college with the necessary documents mentioned in the website to complete the process.

Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

Choice of course was because of interest. The faculty-student ratio is reasonable (1:10) but the changed faculty is not as good as when I had joined. Term exams are timely but the problem is that for general subjects, they often misplace the files and you get an absent mark on your sheet even though you gave the file. So it is a huge problem due to laziness.

Placement Experience

0.5

In a psychology course, there is absolutely no chance of campus placement. A bachelor's degree in psychology can never get anyone a direct job from campus placement but yes there are plans for master's so that could be a good fit for most students to pursue.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fee structure is reasonable and highly affordable, approx. 10 k only per annum. Even then there is scholarship available for women and for reservation candidates, I do not know the exact process so one can check with the office staff to find out. And no job on campus

Campus Life

3

The annual fest Udaan is a very famous fest and lot of celebrities have over the years come to the celebration. Usually conducted around aug-September. The central library is huge and also each department has its own library. There is also a communal reading space but often union guys have meetings that turn unruly and loud so there are very few rules followed as a library should follow.

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.
