Remarks

I heard a lot about this college as this is the best college in north India for placement which is true also but not for mechanical. Only cse and ece students gets placed during campus placement but wait its not that easy as the placement is done along with students of C.G.C Jhanjeri and Chandigarh university. So for every job there are hundreds of students competing. Placement cells are very friendly and they help a lot during placement time and grooming session. Admission process is very easy just go with all the documents (marks sheet ,pass certificate ,I.D. proof) and you will get admitted within hours. If anyone wants to explore themselves in different aspects other than studies then the college gives a lot of chances every semester and infact every month . Teaching staff of mechanical engineering are more than awesome as they never hesitate to answer any doubts but the management staff are little rude until its time to submit the fees. I got to know from my friend and Collegedunia.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

Mechanical being a practical subject was one of the main reason to select and the love towards designing of automobiles also attracted me . In mechanical branch the faculty student ratio is quite good , we can say it as of students are decreasing year by year so every remaining students are well known by the faculty of C.G.C landran. Mechanical known as oldest branch of engineering consists of all doctorate and Ph.D. holders faculty. Almost every faculty adapt teaching method which will be easier for the students and one will never see rude behavior of teaching faculty ,neither they get frustrated easily even during online classes where the attendance and response of students are very low. Motivational speeches and expert talks and few technical and non technical events are organized very often in order not to get bored by the regular routine. Exams are conducted very timely and also the difficulty level is moderate for average students like me.

Internships Opportunities

2.5

Actually my 75% college life till now went in lockdown so can't tell much about internship but according to the seniors college has tie-ups with a lot of companies providing internship. College promotes internship both off campus and on campus and register our names in various internships.

Placement Experience

3.5

From 6th semester onwards in cse and it branch students are eligible for campus placements according to the college details many companies such as Accenture Mahindra and Mahindra, Lenovo, QUALCOMM, Infosys, IBM and a lot of startup companies and many more reputed as well as small capital local companies come to hire students of C.G.C landran, C.G.C jhanjeri, Chandigarh university (joint campus placement are organized). according to college an E.C.E student has received highest package of 36 LPA by QUALCOMM in the year 2020. But not sure whether the student was of which college as joint placement drives are conducted approximately 100% placement are there for students of c.g.c ,c.u . after getting the degree I want a campus placement in any core companies of mechanical and also is preparing for gate 2023.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees are fixed at the time of admission according to the merit of students and it does not hike for college but the hostel fees gets upgraded almost every year which is little bit annoying college provides a number of scholarship program for students of north west India and category (SC, ST, OBC) students . No financial assistance and jobs are provided are in the campus according to me.

Campus Life

4.5

Every year annual fest named Parivartan is observed in the campus which takes place for 2-3 days and few celebrities are called for entertainment purpose in the month of November. Tech fest is observed every semester and winners are awarded with attractive prizes. Almost every books are available in the library and if not available you can ask/request the librarian to arrange the same and they do it within a month. Classroom is normal as school classrooms with 3-4 fans only different sports facility are there but not included in time table of college , rather if you want you can borrow sports equipment from sports room and play along with your friends in your free time or after college hours. College promote almost every sports with same enthusiastic and energy so one can achieve his/her dreams in sports, for every activity there are numerous of clubs run by the students as well as headed by few staffs and everyone gets a chance to enroll and get benefitted from it.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

One cooler per room and 2-3 fans per room is provided and one almirah per student is also provided. If you get room of 4 students in a single room (they say 4 but actually 5 are allotted) then you might get a study table also if you are lucky. Single ply beds are allotted per student which is of good quality. Meal quality is very good during new admission process as parents also come to visit hostel and stay for few days so they provide a 4 star quality in food but after admissions are over its like the same hostel (breakfast is good) but the lunch and dinner are of poor quality. During admission in college you will be asked for availing hostel facility which is a very easy process and at that moment one just needs to pay some amount (5000/-) for booking of hostel seat which you can book after wards also when you come to stay. The hostel is definitely more costlier than other hostels but the menu provided justifies the cost and here once again management fails to maintain rule of hostel.

Placement Experience:

Students start becoming eligible for campus placements from the sixth semester, and that’s when most training sessions for aptitude, coding and soft skills also begin. The placement cell is active throughout the year and brings in a mix of product-based, service-based and mid-tier tech companies. The number of offers varies every year, but CSE-related branches usually get the highest share of opportunities. Companies come for roles like software trainee, analyst, QA, support engineering and web development, so there’s a good spread of entry-level roles.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

The placement of our college is good but its lack to bring big names but overall it's 3 out of 5 as it's basically focus on bringing software companies but our stream is of electronics so we donot have that much knowledge about coding so we lack to get placed this is the only disadvantage of the placement cell here

In 3rd semester a student is eligible for campus placement but it is all upto to students that they have to maintain a good cgpa and skills for interviews. In Chitkara university a good number of companies visited like Microsoft, google and they provide 100+ offerletters. 85-90 % students get placed in Chitkara university. After getting degree I firstly join to the company .

Placement Experience:

There is an option for students to opt for placements from campus in our university and if we seect that option we are given special training by the university it self in fields which we think we are weak. That include technical and non technical fields like soft skills. University also ties up with other triaining companis to train us in better way by calling tutors from outside the campus for teaching us. Over all if we consider we are already well trained by university to sit for on campus placements and we usually get a good paying job which also helps us to gain more knowledge and improve ourself.
