Remarks
The placements here are awesome, no state quota so I got the best branch of this college, good coding culture, fewer students than most of the other colleges so lesser competition for placements. The only thing I think in which my college lagged behind was sports infrastructure which was not good at all. I got admission through JOSAA counselling in the first round itself and freezed it since it was the topmost choice in my list (made my list quite realistic after a lot of cut-off research). Then I visited the college in July end for physical process of admission and secured my seat. I also had the option of DTU Mathematics and Computing branch but 700+ people from CS related branches (CSE, IT, SE, MNC) compete for IT jobs in DTU as compared to just 140 in IIIT Allahabad. For my research I mostly used Quora, College Dunia and also got reviews from seniors in college for whichever college I could find one.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum is quite IT oriented and unlike other colleges, you don't have to study subjects not related to branch at all. So I would say the curriculum is quite up to date and also includes the new emerging technologies. All the professors here are atleast Ph.D. so they have good knowledge and also teach quite well.
Internships Opportunities
Most of the companies coming to hire FTs also hire interns and offer stipends upto 1L per month. Projects are in Software Development field itself and a lot of students also get PPO from these companies.
Placement Experience
Placements start at the beginning of 7th sem and it is one aspect of this college that is very much comparable to top IITs. Big firms like Google, Microsoft, Flipkart, Amazon, Goldman Sachs, Adobe, etc. hire from the college every year in good numbers. Good amount of high paying startups also hire from our college. Highest package offered in my batch was 65LPA and average package was 21LPA. Most of the profiles were Software Development Engineer with some also hiring for Business Analyst roles. 98% of the students who sat for placements had an offer in hand by December.
College Events
Effervescence is the annual cultural fest held in mid October, Aparoksha is the annual technical fest held in March along with Hack In The North, biggest college hackathon in India, Asmita is the annual sports fest also held in March. Library is well equipped with course books as well as other books. All the academic buildings are air conditioned. IIITA also has a lot of cultural and technical clubs and also a social group called Prayaas. All of these clubs are completely run by the students and you can also find their website links at IIITA's website. There are a lot of extra curricular activities happening round the year organised by all these clubs or the college. In short, the college life is quite bustling and you'll never find yourself bored.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Tuition fees is arround 45k per sem and after all the other charges it comes at around 60k per sem plus mess charges which are around 15k per sem. Tuition fees will remain constant over the duration of your course however other charges may change a bit. There are scholarship opportunities but I don't know about them much. As compared to other govt. colleges, IIIT Allahabad is quite affordable.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facility is fine and is available for all the students. During the first 2 years you'll have a double sharing room and single room during the last 2 years. Mess is like any other college mess. Some days the food is edible but most of the days you'll be eating out. The accomodation is quite affordable at 5k per sem for double occupancy and 10k per sem for single occupancy.
