JD birla Institute, is a premier Institute in the field of nutrition. It is under Jadavpur University, one of the best universities globally. The internship opportunities are extensive, with one of the best hospitals like BM birla, Columbia Asia, etc on board. Apart from this, a placement wing helps you connect with companies and assists with placement in case you apply for it. The faculty is very experienced, with one of the most recognized experts in the field. The admission starts post declaration of board exam results. A merit point is created, based on the student's subjects in high school, marks in the respective exams, and extra curriculum activities. Prior to the 2020 batch, a written exam and interview were also conducted. However owing to the pandemic, no more exam or interview is being conducted and admission is given based on merit points solidarity.
Course Curriculum Overview
The faculty is very knowledgeable and approachable. They are all very experienced in the food industry and provide great assistance to all the students. It is a mix of friendly and serious, which gives the students the best of both worlds and prepares them for industrialization as well. All the faculty members have master's degrees. Some even have a Ph.D. This provides great resources for the students and the teachers give them a first-hand industrial perspective as well
Internships Opportunities
A minimum internship of 6 weeks is required to get your degree. For bsc fsnm, internships at top hospitals like bm birla, columbia Asia etc is provided. They are most likely non-paid. You can also work with governmental organizations like cini India.
Placement Experience
After the completion of BSc, there is no solid placement option for the students since most opt for going for higher studies. However, in case you need a placement, the placement wing can help you with it. The Commerce Departments have great placement and certain companies like Delloite etc come for recruitment
Fees and Financial Aid
The admission fees are around 80000/- without any bridge course. Students who are from a nonscience background have to opt for bridge courses. It will be mentioned on the merit list itself. Due to online classes, the fees are currently reduced to around 40k. There are scholarship options available for students in need. They need to provide their documents and certain certificates of eligibility in order to get that.
Campus Life
There are fests and organizations held on campus throughout. On the national nutrition week, the college holds several events for the nutrition department. The fashion department has a fashion show every year where they showcase their exclusive creations.
Interview Experience
There is a written exam and interview for students every year. However, this year admission was given based on merit points itself. The interview generally requires the short-listed students ( based on merit points) to come in and answer related questions. They also check in with your extra curriculum and certificates in the interview itself which can boost your chances of admission
