Remarks

The administration is so so, politics is the main drawback. If one asks me whats best about this college, I would say that you will get educated, not only graduated after completing your course. If you want a decent destination for studying, this is the college for you. Here, graduation is not the only destination. Education is given priority. Plus, if someone has to study for other entrances the college will provide you casual leave which is not the case in many other colleges.

Entrance Preview

My course is Electronics(hons). I got admitted on my production of my marksheet. This course is very lucrative and always on demand. The infrastructure for electronics in this college is much better compared to other colleges in this category.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

Yoi will get rich with knowledge of you study electronics hons. This will not only help one for their masters but also pave the way for one's success in various entrance tests. If you have to get into this course, you need to have at least 60% marks in your H.S level.

Internships Opportunities

The college does not provide any interships much like other colleges in Calcutta which offers courses on B.sc.

Placement Experience

0.5

There is no such assured placement if you study here. To open your aspects, you need to do masters in this course or related courses. There is a window of opportunities and this is the first stepping stones. The companies that came last year are none and the package they offered consequently are none.

College Events

2

There are various cultural and ceremonial events celebrated in your college other than the celebrations for the college students performance in academics. Being a college in Calcutta , it is obviously closed during the pujas. Other interesting events include games, both outdoor and indoor, interdepartmental and inter college.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees structure is quite feasible for common people. Being a government aided college, the fees annually is around 2000-35000 depending upon the course one studies. Electronics course fees is 35000. People who are financially challenged also get concessions and may fees in installments if they want.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarship you will get for doing masters in Calcutta university if you have good marks in your respective department.

Campus Life

3

The campus is not the ideal campus you may wonder of. But,it is not the worst. Union and politics can be a major problem in this college, but it all ultimately depends upon oneself and their determination. Labs are very well equipped, sports also get decent priority.

Hostel Facilities

2

The hostels are situated right beside the main college building. This is in Hazra , a well connected place in Calcutta. Food, transportation won't ever be a problem. The fees structure for hostel is unknown to me, but PG's can be availed at roughly 2500 INR.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes, the senior students are very helpful. If you get to love your department,it will definitely give you something back.

Exam Structure

The exam pattern of CU can geta bit tricky for new comers. Clearly speaking,if you want to pursue B.Sc in CU , you have to study throughout the year. One exam for each year puts a bit more pressure on students. The lab exams and preparations will get interesting as you begin to love your subject.

Faculty

2.5

Excepting one or two professors, every other professors and the lab staffs are enriched with knowledge and a zest to educate. This is very obvious that everything in this world is not perfect,so one or two professors may not have great teaching capabilities. But, if you yourself have the hunger to collect your necessary notes, you'll definitely get help from the department.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I've always found economics to be really interesting and thats why I choose to persue it. I wanted to dive deep into the actual concepts and workings of the economy and understand how the world works from an economist's point of view. Sadly the curriculam doesnt bridge the gap between theory and real life. It focuses heavily on textbook and not how the world works.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would say the course is good but you have to opt for masters and PhD to get a good placement. After bsc there's not any placement. The curriculum was basically practical and theoretical based. But I think it should be more practical so that we can get a job after doing bsc. The teaching method was good I didn't have any problem with that. As it was under Calcutta University so the exam questions were too difficult, sometimes it came out of our syllabus , i think they should change this a little bit .

Course Curriculum Overview:

The syllabus for BSc. Microbiology Hons. was in line with my interests. Few topics like virology, bacteriology, and diversity of the microbial workd are what drew my attention to pick this course. Although there are some portions which one would consider "boring", but I believe every subject has its interesting as well as boring portions. It's seems fair to judge a subject by seeing if the "boring" portions outweigh the "interesting" parts or not.

Course Curriculum Overview:

In terms of relevance and comprehensiveness of the course curriculum, my rating is solid 4.1 out of 5. Because it offers a variety of courses like compulsory english, environmental science, constitution values of India, Inter Disciplinary Courses where one can opt for a variety of subjects which change along with the course proceeds or semester changes. Not only that two major papers and one minor paper are present throughout the semester. As a student we should be well aware of our country and its law as well as how we can keep our environment healthy followed by sustainable development.
