Extremely Engaging

The student fraternity at IIM Ranchi is very much friendly, happening and support worthy. The seniors guide the juniors in a smooth manner. The Induction is quite awesome for the students who get into the MBA program. The teaching faculties are also good. But, at times I felt that the Finance faculty could have been better as the existing ones are not that good and student friendly. The Economics faculty happens to be the best at IIM Ranchi. The admission happens through the CAT scores post which WAT and PI are conducted. The results are declared in the month of March and April while admission happens in June. IIM Ranchi is the best out of the new IIMs in terms of placements and campus activities. The ROI is very good.

I do have a pre-MBA work experience of 2 years and I was very cautious to read the profiles of directors of various companies. I found that MBA was a very desirable quality for getting into good roles and contribute to the company. So I decided to go ahead with MBA at IIM Ranchi. Also, faculty student ratio was around 26:1. Faculty was great except for finance which was not that basic and student friendly. The exams were very much timely.

A lot of companies like JPMC, Godrej, ICICI, Asian paints, burger, indigo, yes bank, HSBC, collegeduniya, byjus, HCL, Dell, Samsung, Emami, etc come for summer placements at IIM Ranchi. I was placed at Asian paints for my summer internships. Several projects were given to the students most of them fell in the no disclosure agreements.

The summer placement process starts in the month of July. The final placements start in the month of August. The highest package for abroad stood at INR 55 lakhs for tolaram group. There were 100% placements for both summers and finals. I plan to work and foster my career on the path of development by contributing to the success of the company.

The fee is slightly high for IIM Ranchi. There are no scholarships available from the college. But the students can surely apply to NSP for scholarships from the central and state government. Even I had received a scholarship from the Jharkhand state Government- e-Kalyan.

If a student wants to live campus life, IIM Ranchi is the best place to provide her/him with the activities despite not having his own campus. Agon is the management fest while Rush is the cultural fest of IIM Ranchi. A bunch of activities are undertaken and students take an active part in them. They also gain hands on experience in managing them. All sports activities are conveniently played at IIM Ranchi. There are 8 to 9 clubs, 7 committees and several SIGs at IIM Ranchi for the students, the details of which could be found on the website of IIM Ranchi.

We had Wi-fi, a study table, good bedding, very nicely painted walls, fans, lights, etc. The washroom was well equipped and had geysers as winters are really cold at Ranchi. Each student was given a single room occupancy. The hostel asst. wardens looked after the registration of new students.

There was no GD for IIM Ranchi. However, there was a Written ability test followed by an interview by panel members. The interview questions for me revolved around the job experience, basic HR hygiene questions, Why MBA, the domain of specialisation, few general studies questions, questions from graduation, etc. I had taken coaching from career launcher located at park street, Kolkata. The institute heloed me a lot to prepare for the entrance and also to crack the interview.
