NITIE Mumbai is also known as the Mecca of supply chain and is a well-known college for supply chain management as well as operations. The institute has been ranked 12th among all the management institutes and recognized as a center of excellence in the country as per the ministry of HRD. The usual admission process is: 1. Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because it allowed me to nurture my techno-managerial skills. The teachers have a great knowledge base and the curriculum changes as per the industry needs. This year, a course related to data analytics and supply chain digitization has been introduced seeing the current scenario and rapid adaptation to digital platforms by various companies. A course led by Prof. David Simchi Levi(eminent thought leader in supply chain management from MIT, USA) and Prof. Manjoy Tiwari (Director of NITIE) was also conducted for the students as well as for the industry professional for Supply chain digitization and management. The exams are held in a timely manner and as per the schedule decided by the college mangement.
Internships Opportunities
A number of companies come for the summer placements and it usually happens in the month of September. Mostly the roles are related to supply chain and operations, along with IT and analytics. This year the highest stipend offered was 3.2 lakhs and the average stipend is 1.5 lakhs.
Placement Experience
NITIE hosts a number of companies for its placements. The placement drive is done in 2 parts: CRP and LRP. Students having work experience of more than 24 months are eligible to sit for LRP and this happens in the month of November-December. The CRP is for students having work experience of fewer than 24 months or freshers. A number of companies come for both CRP and LRP including FMCG, BSFI, Consulting, Pharmaceutical, Manufacturing, IT and analytics, E-commerce, etc.
Fees and Financial Aid
At NITIE the return on investment is pretty good. This year even in the tough times of Covid, the entire batch got summer placements. There are many scholarships that are provided but they are based on the family income of the student. This year for summer placements the highest stipend recorded is 3.2 lakhs while the average stipend is 1.5 lakhs.
Campus Life
AVARTAN: Annual business festival conducted in November first or second week. Avartan is an umbrella event, an amalgamation of Prerna and Lakshya with E Cell, the cultural festival, and the sports meet-Josh. There are a number of journals and databases which can be accessed by the students through online library of NITIE and are very helpful during various corporate case competitions that open in NITIE. There are 16 committees and 12 interest groups that a student can become a part of at NITIE.
Hostel Facilities
double seater room with basic amenities. There are 2 mess: Taylor hall mess and Vikram Sarabhai mess. The quality of food is good and customized food is also available. There is a night canteen as well named Bru. The hostel fees do not include the mess and that has to paid separately.
Interview Experience
The entire process was conducted online due to the covid situation. The first question was self-introduction ( prepare it for 5 minutes and include as much detail as possible-work experience, final year project, etc, also keep a 2-minute introduction handy as well). The second question revolved around the basics of finance (terms like NFIA, GDP,GNP, etc)
