Course Curriculum Overview
This is a techno-managerial course that makes top-class engineers world-class managers. The course gives a good blend of technical and managerial skills in one. The course curriculum is mainly focussed on the supply chain and operations domain since the college is known as the Mecca of supply chain. The faculty-student ratio is decent enough to permit personalized attention and effective student-teacher interaction. Faculties are highly qualified from prestigious institutes in India and the world. The assignments given by them are very helpful in building good skillsets in students. The examinations are held in every module and are neither easy nor difficult.
Internships Opportunities
Great and prestigious companies like P&G, J&J, Pidilite, Mckinsey and Company, etc. come to campus for internship opportunities with and average stipend of about 1 lakh(maybe more) and college is eligible for almost all corporate case competitions. The roles offered are of diverse domains but mainly it comes for SCM and operations.
Placement Experience
Summer internship placements are done within three months of joining the college and many students get PPOed. For those who are not PPOed, the final placement drives start in December month. For the details on the average, median and highest package, one can go through the placement brochure on NITIE's website. The college is great in terms of placement.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
The fee is very nominal when compared to other management institutes while the average packages are comparable to old IIMs. The ROI is excellent when it comes to NITIE. There are various scholarships that are updated from time to time through the mail and students can go through the brochure to get to know about financial assistance for poor students. I have got an IDFC First Bank scholarship of 100000 per year and also a monthly stipend of 12400 under a Teaching Assistantship.
Campus Life
The campus is known as God's Own Campus as it is full of greenery and peace. Life on campus is vibrant and great. There are various social and cultural events hosted on the campus. The events keep the people engaged in activities and make the person well acquainted with the skill of managing academics and extra activities at the same time.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are good and are double-seaters. Watercoolers and washing machines are provided on each floor. Mess food is nominal as per price but is based on an individual's choice and taste. Hostels are allotted smoothly on the day of reporting itself.
Admission
I am a PGDIE student which is a flagship course of the institute. For this course, the eligibility criteria is GATE Score. The admission process is very smooth and a dedicated team works to make the functions go efficiently. One can find the details of the application form release, application fee and dates by visiting the NITIE's official website regularly. A gate score of 750+ is decent enough for girl candidates belonging to the general category and 800+ for boy candidates in the general category and varies according to different reservation criteria and engineering branches too. I belong to the General EWS category got shortlisted and was finally selected for admission on a score of 717.
Interview Experience
For admission to NITIE, one has to appear for the GATE exam to get admission in the PGDIE program and the CAT exam for admission to the PGDIM program. One more program PGDSM has the criteria of qualifying either the GATE or CAT exam. Once the application is submitted the shortlist for GD/PI is released and one has to appear for them. For GD preparation one should be up to date with current affairs and work on communication skills.
