Remarks
IIM Udaipur accepts CAT scores. I scored 137.98 marks out of 300 in CAT-19, which was 97.6 percentile. I belong to the EWS category and got a call for CAP and IIMK. IIM Udaipur has a strong alumni network and started in the year 2011. The batch size this year is 322 and it has increased from last year to close to 280. The batch size is more as compared to other New IIMs, but it does not affect the quality of education. The placements are not much affected because of larger batch strength as the college is doing well in terms of placements as well.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course is a well-designed course with 6 semesters in all. The first year is to give a basic idea of different domains and subjects. Specialization is decided on the basis of a number of electives taken by students in the second year. Generally, we are provided with a general management degree. IIMU is known for its academic rigour and excellent teachers. Teachers are highly demanded in the industry and have at least 10 years of experience. Marketing and Finance teachers are really good and the prospect of learning is high. Pre-reads are assigned before every class and most of the students do it before coming to class. Harvard case studies are used and case-based learning is there.
Internships Opportunities
The internship is the academic requirement and it is the duty of the college to get everyone placed. So, there is 100% internship availability and many companies visit campus to take students for two months internship. The roles offered are according to the demand of the batch and most of the students get the internship in the domain they are interested in.
Placement Experience
The placements are comparable to other New IIMs. It stood close to 15 lakhs per annum and the average Internship was 85k for two months. Many top companies visit every year and there are many strategic recruiters.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tuition fees if 2.7 lakh each semester. Financial aid can be provided to students whose total annual family income is less than 4.5 lakhs. The scholarship is also based on other categories like academic excellence to promote education. Although the fees of B-schools are high, IIMU fees are slightly more than other new IIMs.
Campus Life
IIMU has many clubs and committees. It is completely a student-run body. Major committees are the Placement committee, Placement preparation committee, the Academic Council, and many others. MBA is a two-year residential program and the campus of IIMU is peaceful, spread over a 300-acre green campus. Infrastructure is well built and there are few spots which give a lot of peace and have scenic beauty. There are so many things other than studies where students spend time. There are three fests in a year i.e. Solaris, Audacity, and Utkrisht.
Interview Experience
WAT and PIs are conducted for 9 institutes together and this process is called CAP. There was no Group discussion. But there was WAT and PIs. WAT generally tests general awareness and a student who reads from reliable sources regularly can easily do WAT. PIs like any other interview tests your understanding of yourself, why someone wants to do an MBA and basic questions on academics and work experience (if applicable).
Other Applied Colleges
Department of Financial Studies | MBA
It was a tough decision not to go for DFS but that is a Delhi University college which would not give the same exposure and tag of an IIM.
