Life of a MBA student at IIM-U

Good: Placement opportunities, Highly Knowledgeable Peers, Entrepreneurial initiatives, accountability. Bad: Competition among the students, excessive pressure during placements. Admission Criteria: Admission at IIM-U is done based on the weightage of the scores obtained in CAT, candidate's academic profile, work experience, personal interview round (3 stages). I preferred IIM-U over the other B-schools because, in a short period of 3 years, the institute has managed to rank among the best 15 B-schools across India.

I chose MBA (GSCM) that is Global Supply Chain Management for one year which is a residential fulltime program offered only at IIM-U. The peer interaction at IIM-U is very good, they guide the students very well, be it in studies or choosing a career. They're well qualified and are of great expertise in their relevant domains. Students can approach them whenever needed. Their teaching method is unique with real-life examples which gives the studnets a grasp of that specific concept. Few of the faculties are research scholars.

For summer placements, around 77 recruiters visited the IIM-U campus and the 18 studnets of MBA GSCM participated in the summer internships program and they received various job offers from different sectors. The top recruiters who participated in the summer placements were Fin First, ICICI Bank, RBL, Etc.

This year, most of the students from MBA GSCM have managed to get placed under reputed organizations such as Cognizant, Delhivery, Manhattan Associates, Udaan, FITJEE under the domains such as strategic, management operations, sakes, and marketing, and supply chain management. The highest CTC stood at INR 35.01 LPA, while the average CTC offered was INR 19.10 LPA. Out of the total 15 students, 13 students were recruited.

For MBA (GSCM), the fee structure is INR 18.5 lakhs for a duration of 1 year and during admission, an acceptance fee of INR 75,000 must be paid. There's no fee hike policy, but many financial assistance and scholarships are offered at IIM-U such as Merit cum means scholarships, Central Sector Scholarship Scheme Of Top Class Education For SC students by Ministry, National Fellowship Scholarships, Scheme of scholarships for top class education for students with disabilities, Mukhya Mantri Sarvajan Uchchaa Shiksha Scheme and others.

Campus life at IIM-U is awesome with 24 hours access to WiFi, students can remotely access all the library features including access to numerous databases and journals. Each classroom at IIM-U is newly built, ergonomically designed, And air-conditioned with fixed projectors and high-end sound systems. There are multiple conference rooms with swivel cameras. Multiple clubs and committees are available for the students to participate such as the Bikers and Trekkers club, CreArt, Code Red, Public Policy Groups, FootWorX, Marclan, and various others. Clubs are differentiated into social and recreational, governance and administration.

Students can avail of single or double-occupancy hostel rooms at IIM-U. These rooms are fully equipped with furniture and accommodation facilities such as TV, geysers, water purifiers, balcony, etc. There is a gym, medical room, recreation room, laundry facilities are all available at IIM-U hostels, these are managed by Sarovar Hotels who are in charge of keeping the hostels clean and comfortable. The food options are very good, they are tasty, and homely prepared.

Yes, a Personal interview was conducted in 3 phases, and questions were asked related to General, Work Experience, General Awareness such as 1.Why opting for MBA? 2. What are your key skills and strengths? 3. What is your most favorite part of your job, 4. How do you feel with failures? 5. Why do petrol prices rises constantly? Etc. However, the interview process is smoothly conducted.
